I have the 1.4EcoTsi with ACT. Lovely little motor with enough power to happily achieve motorway speeds and above when required. No issues with over taking in terms of power. Plus when compared to the diesel, you don't have to worry about DPF issues.
On the motorway I can achieve upto around 50mpg when driven sensibly, a recent trip to cornwell (300+ miles) I got an average of 48mpg with more spirited driving at times in the journey and with some stop-start traffic.
I myself came from a 1.9TDI Audi that had been modded with over 200bhp, and in all honesty I haven't felt the power lacking in my choice of engine, very satisfied with it. Couple that up with general consensus online that this engine is reliable and doesn't seem to have many, if at all any, common problems then I think you would be quite happy with your choice. Having owned the car (a 2017 model) for 6 months I haven't had any issues with the engine, or indeed the rest of the car.
Just my 2 cents.
