ok, so ive got some Schmidt modern lines, 16x7 and 16x9, they currently have stretched tyres on but my car is slowly changing into more of a motorsport feel so I want to change the tyres for some Toyo r888s.

What sizes would people recomend? I want the side walls to be the same height front and rear, and also as low profile as I can get (i know thats not really possible)

What you suggest?

Agreed ^

Plus a theme doesn't warrent that choice of tyre, go with some T1-R's for the road.

Have you seen the price of them now? I'll be looking for alternatives when the time comes.....track tyres.

oh its not a road car any more, being built to be more show car/track use?! an odd combination i know but i want to build it and try win a few show and shine tropheys and then be able to use on a track after.

will get trailered everywhere tbh.

Im wanting R888s because there quite fat and then Im getting some wide jdm style arches and riveting them on to cover them up!

odd i know but keeps me happy lol

edit: like this .....

Well I had the R888's 225/50 and they were too wide for the front and wouldn't even fit under the rear arches... diameter of the tyre was too bigger! lol.

Look into the Kumhos they do different sizes, even Hankooks.... look on cams kill under track tyres!

I've won a show n shine and tbh doing both is just hard work fella, I rather just track it full stop now :)

I know what you mean mate but its taken so long and so much money I just feel i need a trophey to make me feel better lol

Will deffo look into the Kumhos, What size would you say to use? are your wheels 16x7? Im going to read your build thread again now...

I'm using 16x7 rims and 205/45 16's V70A's But they don't look "wide"

Makes it all worth it when you are ragging it around a track!

I can't really contribute to the question, but can I ask are you planning on keeping the stretch in your tyres? To me that seems counterproductive for a track car, you won't get best use out of the tyres when they're not on the recommended wheels sizes.

Of course, if you're doing all this so you're matching tyres to rims as they're supposed to be, then ignore me and I wish you all the best with the trophies! :)

No not wanting to stretch, been there when I was going more towards the show look but now its slowly going motorsport so stretch tyres will look stupid! Wanting it 100% purposeful but at the same time sitting really nice :)

kyle, you know you want stretch

LMAO, if you do that, I will come chop your dangly bits off :p

plans sound good aswell dude :)

agreed with the above comments, I've raced on Toyo T1R's and not had any problems in the dry *touch wood*. Could have been better but budget didn't allow :)

But this year I'm going with a set of AD08's for the dry and the T1R's with full tread (or maybe a few mm off) for the wet :D

Ive been searching around, I'm thinking -

16x7 - 195/50
16x9 - 255/50

In the R888s, I need them pretty wide and chunky to fill the wide arches, plus they will be spaced out to clear the inside of arch/coilovers

tbh stretch in moderation is all good, when someone puts a 105mm bike tyre on a 6J wheel = NUTS lol

I personally think if you are going for stance then get as little stretch as you possibly can get away with :)

can't wait to see this, will have to sort out popping down when I go beat up arun :)
