If you come down to Birmingham, theres a mental hospital opposite my house. Il help you check in if you like :D

On a serious note, you have to push the metal clip to the side so that it 'unlocks'. Then the bulb and fitting come out easily.

you know now looking at in and reading that i dont think i have done it on a 16v...I will have another look in the morning as its pitch black now...

i took the plastic cover off and couldnt see anything that would come out, only wires and stuff...

The metal clip doesn't come out. If you look you have to push it to one side to unclip it. It still stays attached to the light mounting but no longer holds the bulb in place. And im pretty sure its the same on all the mk2's.

You push the metal clip towards the front of the car abit then move it to the side then it moves back.

You are able to take it out as I had to do that when fitting my HID's, but you wont have to do that just changing the bulb.

right got the metel thing out, top advice guys.

but

how the f***ing hell do i get the bulb out, is it just the bulb that comes outs....aarrrggghh:cry:

Take the black connector thing off the end of the bulb then the bulb should just pull out towards you.

The location prongs on the bulb are different. One is slightly wider than the other two. The wide one goes directly at the top. Just abit of advice when re-fitting the bulb.

orangemuffin - I'm assuming from the pic in your signature that these are the 2xH1 lamps with one bulb for dipped beam and a separate bulb for main beam? I've always found it easiest to pull the connector, pop the clip and then pull bulb out straight. The bulbs sometimes don't sit quite right in the bulb holder, so can wobble about a bit and get themselves a bit wedged, so afraid it's just a question of if at first you don't succeed...

Once you've disconnected the wire to the back of the bulb - should be a single spade connector in a black shroud - and released the bulb holder clip, just pull on the exposed connector on the back of the bulb.

Is it just the bulb that comes out - ive pulled and pulled and pulled ever bit which looks like it would come off but i am a little worried about breaking it. Will give it another go.

I am sorry. I am just struggling a bit with it. Ive pulled and waggeled and pulled some more and not being 100% sure which bit comes off just thought i'd ask for help as didnt want to break anything.
