Hello.

I have Seat Cordoba 6L2 (year 2003, 1.4l, 74kW/100bhp, engine type BBZ). Never had major problems with it, just did regular inspections, changed oil and bulbs.

However for the last 7 moths I've been receiving from time to time error code P0106 - MAP/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance. I didn't pay much attention to it since it's been showing up under strange conditions which occurred rarely (when I was going up the hill on the 3rd gear or while being in a traffic jam, etc).
Though I took my car twice to mechanic (Norauto) to see what's been going on, they said they don't know what this was and just erased the error (charged ~20€ for each erase) telling me to take the car back when it occurs again. Recently after I had 1500 km trip this problem became worse.
Right now each time I have a small or middle distance runs the same error appears, I erase it with OBD2 device and it appears again. Moreover the engine runs rough, I need to apply some more pressure on accelerator and engine has rough sound, also it doesn't feel as pokey as it usually did as if it is sluggish like the handbrake is left on slightly.

So I want to fix it myself since I found a good description of my problem here: obd-codes.com/p0106.
What I want to do is to check the performance of MAP sensor, just to check the voltage and if it's faulty I'll change it or take it to mechanic.

I verified where MAP sensor is through Autodata application:

Checked online how the regular MAP sensor for my car must look like:

Opened the top lid of the engine:

And I found no proper sensor in my engine bay:

Some sensors were found in the mentioned area, but I couldn't identify them and they look different from what I looked for:

Where is the MAP sensor situated in my case?

the map sensor is located in the inlet manifold
follow the dipstick tube down and about halfway down the inlet manifold you will see a terminal block and that is your sensor its held in with 2 screws

Thanks a lot for your help. I managed to find it and also I got it fixed.
The tube of the MAP sensor was dirty inside (looked like a dust and oil substance), I cleaned it with WD-40 and went for a ride. The car was immaculate (and it still is!), very responsive accelerator pedal, engine ran smooth, good as new!
