hello i currently own a 1.2 8v Fiat punto on a 02 plate.

turning 19 soon n started a new job so fancy a new set of wheels. i want to buy a second hand seat ibiza the latest model i have seen various ones i like s, se etc for around 5 k and under ( ps my budget is 5 k ) i ordered the catalogue from seat and fell in love with the seat ibzia 1.4 sport. how ever i need to know when these came in to production becaus ei cant afford anything above a 53 plate for example. so heres low down

i want a ibiza got to be latest shape

got to be 1.4

got to be 3drs

would like air con alloys full electrics remote central locking etc

either on a 02, 52 , 03, 53 plate

which ibiza would match my profile ? how much are we looking at ?

ive looked on autotrader and found this

03 - 25,000 miles, Black, Metalic Paint. 3x3 point rear seat belts, ABS, Air conditioning, Body coloured bumpers, Cloth seat trim, Drivers airbag, CD Radio, 1 lady owner. Great car, lovely to drive. £4,150 ( ps this isnt sport would suffice :) )

i like the sounds of that but it doesnt have alloys so basically like taht but with allows

Cheers could you please pm me or email direct to [email protected]

Firstly welcome to the site, and good to see you are changing away from rubbish Fiats;)

The latest shape Ibiza is the Mk4, and there is whats known as the pre-facelift (the ages of the cars your looking at) and the facelift (which was brought in this year). Only difference being slightly sportier bumpers.

Wouldn't worry if it has got alloys though, as the choices can be pretty crap and often aftermarket ones look better anyway.

What is the max price you want to pay? Just done a search on seat.co.uk for you and there seems to be a few 1.4 Sport 3 doors on there and they seem to be advertised for around £7k

cheers for advice mate, yea i was thinkin off putting custom ones on cos the standards do look a little well standard :p unfortunatly 7ks a little steep for me so i think i will just have to settle with something like i said on the thread, the only reason i wanted a sport was cos the seats :p but all my mates in office have jus put me off wantin a 1.4 sport as its "all show and no go" pity i cant afford to insure a quick car

o and my budget is 5k prob 5.5 at a push... i used to have a seat ibiza mk 2 before i sold it for the punto,, reg plate P122 LKY it was mint condition 5 door bright red SE no electrics or nothin jus PS think thats why it was a special edition. was allso quicker than me current car as it was 1.4 ... the best bit is that i bought it for 900 and sold it for a grand ( bearing in mind i had to pay 60 quid new brakes ) so made a nice 40 quid over 6 months :p

me mate allso had a seat ibiza mk2 in girly blue was a SXE that was 3 door and loads nicer than mine but mine was mint in n out !

You may be able to get an older Sport, all the ones on the Seat site are newer. And with the older version, you get the 100bhp engine instead of the 75bhp one. Not fancy a diesel?

well mate i wouldnt mind a diesel because they are quite quick.. does anyone no when the older sports came in to production ? cos i want somethin like 53. my budgets 5k but ive looked on autotrader and theres none for sale on a 02 52 03 53 they are all 05+ and aorund 6 k which is way too much,

what would you advise ? 1.4 petrol

or a deisel ? well done on ownin a FR by the way ! i want somethin with a bit of poke but no so much i wont be able to ensure it hence the 1.4 petrol

cheers

o and when you say older sport you still mean mk4 right ? ? ? ?

i dont really like mark 3s bit too bland the mk4 looks loads better

so what diesel would you recommend ?

just had a look and they are insurance group 5 which is too high for me :p

im 18 nearly 19 and with 1 NCB the next ones in august o and im a bloke so insurers jus pull my pants down !i think ill setle for a 1.4 petrol seat 3 dr somethin with about 25-30k miles PS E/W RCL A/C Air bags etc what dya think ? and use the spare money to put some after market alloys on it :p

Mate.. in all honestly if it's insurance group 5 it's not much higher than yours.. if i'm thinking of the right car your's is a group 3...

It's well worth finding out if you look at it in the long run you might be spending say an extra 150 in insurance but saving that on fuel and getting better power :D benefits all round :D

Also to help as it can be a bit confusing...

the pre face lift sports (that came out before the FR) are 130PD (performance Diesel)and these are group 7... then after the FR (which is also a 130PD) came out they dropped the sports to a 100PD.. making them group 5's.

I have a 1.4 sport and i would say there is plenty of poke for the size of car quite frugal on the juice but has a bit of poke there, especially if you are coming from a 1.2 8v fiat!!

Why not take a trip down to the dealer and have a test drive?

You say you have a budget of 5k have you thought about getting a new on on finance you would have a good deposit and they are doing 0% and possibly free insurance i think.

Good luck and welcome!

I agree with seli_babe, It might be worth doing a quote on insurance sites like confused and moneysupermarket before you decide what you're going for.

I was pleasently suprised with a few quotes I got for the new Fr which is group 8 and I'm only a few years older.

Deffo agree mate... go and test drive some different ones at the dealers and make your mind up...

I'm only 22 & had 5yrs NCB and my insurance was £650... so I'd imagine it's not going to be too much more...

Had a 1.4 as a courtesy car for the day and although the torque wasn't there that I love from the FR TDi, the car still had a quite nice amount of poke. But as m0rk suggested try a 100PD which is the 1.9TDi and can even look at getting a nice remap on it. Whereabouts are you from?

from derbyshire in the alfreton / chesterfield area, sorry took so long to reply...

any live near there? remapped whats that ? ecu upgrade ? im jus guessin there so no takin piss :p

It's kinda like an upgrade..

there are 2 types..

there is like Revo where it's additional software on your ECU where you can switch between standard and remap..

then there are others like Jabba, Custom Code, where you can't swap... If you want to run stock you need an new ECU...

It basically does the same as the ECU it just provides more power..

On my TDi I had a thing called a Dragon chip, which is an external unit that sits in the engine, which just told the enginee to provide more fuel to make it quicker, it's a cheaper option, but after long term use can damage the engine.
