My husband managed to put 860ml of petrol into my diesel car last night. :censored: After I realised what he was doing, he filled it right to the brim with diesel, and it seems to be going ok. Guy in the fuel station said it would be ok, and I couldn't ring Seat etc at 10pm on a Sunday evening to check!

I've looked on a few websites, and they say it should be ok, but just want further clarification that it will be fine, otherwise hubby will be grovelling for a very long time. [:@]

If hes driven it home id just keep topping the tank up with diesel for the next week or two depending on the mileage you do, itll dilute the petrol down until its non existant.

Yeah your car should be fine. I have accidentally put £10 of unleaded into my Passat TDI before and it never missed a beat. If you put petrol into a diesel its okay because its compression ignition but if you put diesel into a petrol car you will have problems and the system will need to be drained.

Use a quater of the tank and top up again and it will be fine.

try telling that to the pd injectors cubix, they dont like it. some people are really cautious and end up spending a few hundred on getting the tank and lines emptied others just fill the tank to the neck with diesel. I suppose it really depends on how much you put in.

I put £15 of petrol in my 307 Hdi once (after driving the works petrol pool car for a fortnight), before brimming it with £40 of diesel straight away. I ran that tank to 3/4, then did that twice before emptying the tank. It never had a problem (not that I noticed anyway).

PD injectors hate Petrol, but if were talking a couple of hundred miles in 45 Litres, I imagine you should be fine.
