Hi gang,

I know how you all know such much about this fantastic car (best buy I've ever made).

I've had my car from brand new, Leon Cupra 1.9TDI 150 in OVNI - she's a belter!

Over taking a slow car last night a warning light came on (looks like a little engine) and stays on solid (not flashing) - manual says something about pollution warning - any one know of whats gone wrong please and an indication of how much its going to cost this time :wtf: (wouldn't mind its just come out of the garage after having new headlight bulbs - both of them!).

She's not long had her 70,000 miles service and cam belt change. Due in a few weeks for 80,000 miles service - can it wait till then?

thanks for the help guys.

did a search for this topic and got zero returns but looking in the tdi forum it shows some possibilities not sure if I have same issue or not!

I did notice a petrol cupra with same issue - something to do with coils on that but mine is diesel.

i've got the same car , same year , same mileage and the car is in dock with the same problem . apparently it could be a number of things but until you get it diagnosed there's not much point speculating - mine was due to a faulty glow plug for which the garage want £54 to replace

thanks for the replies gang - think I might run mine into to local cheap VAG independant garage then.

You can buy a fault code reader off of ebay for around £30.

Plug this into your diagnostic port underneath the ashtray and it will tell you exactly what the problem is.

No point paying a dealer £30-40 for a 2 minute scan especially if it happens a good few times through your ownership of the car.

If car is running good, its probably nothing to worry about. There are hundreds of faults it could possibly be so no point trying to guess which 1. It will probably be a sensor if car is still running good, but best bet is to get it scanned.

thanks for all the replies and advice - i was going to run down to the local Volksserve garage in Blackpool (near where I work) but today I start up and the light has disappeared!

The fault will be stored in ecu and will 'probably' re-appear. Probably just a sensor if car is working fine :)
