Hello thanks for looking at my post, whilst driving my ibiza cupra today it was juddering on the throttle, i boosted and it reached strong boost on the guage and pulled but run rough and made some horrific noises like a metalic whine and i could feel a grinding vibration through the throttle pedal, when i backed off and nutured it home it was running very rough and was popping and banging however it idled perfectly. I popped the bonnet and revved it up and all sounded fine and it idled perfect, i took it back up the road and it was again juddering, popping and banging. i therfore pressume the problem is when the turbo is under load? boost leak? coilpack? i'm confused as it reached good boost and idled fine, any advice greatly appriciated, thanks Jim
 
Could well be the coil pack only failing under load I had this with one of mine. Idled fine and drove fine until I hit boost then it would misfire like mad
 
thanks for the replies, after spending hours searchin old posts i cant find anyone with the exact same symptoms as mime but certainly seems like it could be coilpacks. i drove it to work this morning and it drove fine when it got warmed up i boosted a little and it seemed fine held boost around 5 psi so i put my foot down and on high boost it started missing, again idling perfect though. i was checking my mirrors and couldnt see any smoke. my tcs light has been on since i bought the car 6 months ago but havnt had any other lights come up and it hasnt gone into limp mode. any other opinions/advice greatly appriciated. jim
 
UPDATE: ok looked at the car on lunch break and noticed the vacum pipe from the fuel rail to the black plastic box on the left was off recconected and jubiled it took it out it seemed to run alot better gave it the beans and it popped the ic pipe off the top hard pipe so put a better jubilee on it and went out again its peaking at around 18psi and seemed to ne boosting well but the turbo was screaming when giving it the full beans and wasnt running great. i pressume its overboosting? can anyone point out what i should check next? many thanks jim
 
ive had this problem but my eml was flashing!! it was a coil pack in the end just got one an changed them one by one to see which one was faulty
 
Ive just ordered a vag com cable so hopefully that will shed some light on the situation, maybe a stupid question but how can the coilpacks cause it to overboost? the turbo sounds like a supercharger whinning when its boosting i think the turbo might be screwed but there is no smoke which surely is the best indicator it is knackered?
 
hi i was driven my lcr and engine man light came on i took it to my work and the code was boost pressure exceeds limits change plugs/coil packs /coolent temp sens / brake pedel switch /but now it drives like a n/a .car is 309bhp please help

Coil packs probly cant handle 300 bhp plus. Just a thought.
 
update the car is still not running right, its kangarooing at low revs and popping, the turbo sounds like a supercharger at high boost. I put it on vag com and it has fault code 17744 engine torque monitoring adaption at limit and 17965 charge pressure control: positive deviation. I have changed the MAF for a known good one, and the N75 valve, no diffrence. I have removed all the inlet pipework and the vacuum hoses and i can find any splits etc. Running out of ideas now :(
 
I will try disconnecting the pipe and see how it runs, i havnt tried changing the coilpacks can knackered coilpacks cause it to overboost? if the coilpacks where screwed wouldit not log a fault on vag com? Thanks for the advice
