on the way home from work, booted it past a few cars, noticed a noise above the radio, like the exhaust had come off! a real tinny metallic sound. I also noticed a serious drop in power! took it steady the rest of the way home.

Got home jacked her up, noise is definatly coming from the cat or the exhaust from the cat onwards

the noise accurs on 3000+ revs, very tinny metalic sound

sound is comming from the turbo area

cracked turbo manifold?
knacked turbo?

and suggestioins?

more improtantly will this be cover ed on warranty (2years old, 20k miles)?

thankyou for any replys

the bolts that hold the turbo on can cause this simptom if they come loose
or a turbo boost hose from the turbo can pop off and sound like that too

get it into the stealers if it's all still as the factory intended

You should be all right on warranty unless you've been modding, in which case you might have invalidated the turbo's warranty.

yep sounds like manifold bolts again really is a problem had it on mine first only when turbo was fully spooled but the got worse and worse, get it to dealer asap and tell them you know this is a problem

i'v been under the car and had alook, the manifold is loose, but the dealers carnt get me in until monday. Is it possible for me to get to the bolts to nip them up, looks tight in there?

thanks

the power gasket is for the inlet manifold, it might be worth trying to nip them up but this might mean seat say there is nothing wrong lol they will replace the bolts and the gasket, but i think to get to the bolts you need to get the turbo off out the way

had alook at the problem today, real pain to get at the bolts, just under the solid turbo hosing, needed a mirror to see the 3 bolts! well i say 3, 2 were there 1 had vanished!

after several attemps and vairous addons for the rachet, finaly was able to tighten the bolts up, replaced the missing bolt (m10X50) and washer, used a 17mm spanner, shortest one available and tightened them up as tight as possible.

took her for a spin, seems like a new car, no pulsing boost in 3rd, and more hard boost.

very please with myself lol

i would as if anything else happens and they see the bolt isnt the correct on they could use it against you, try saying what has happend get them to look at it order the parts needed and get it booked in for when parts arrive. worth a try
