How is it going J500Ant ?, Have you got the car sorted yet?
Its probably best we dont go there........

(ie its gone nowhere so far, the car was inspected but as suspected there's no evidence left due to the high temperatures that have been sustained. However there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to say its either not been fixed properly and a faulty part remained OR the dealers didnt fix it properly - too much grease was suggested. SEAT UK had been advised by the repairing dealer that the case was closed.....the car is in bits so how they got that impression escapes me. SEAT UK are looking at it again. If not its down the legal route, but as [im 99% sure] its not an inherantly faulty car but a faulty repair the supplying dealer aint gonna be happy.......)

Sorry to hear that mate, I honestly thought you were going to say that it was fixed now and at no charge, I can only wish you all the best and hope they sort something soon.

If your getting no where mate contact trading standards, watch dog and/or auto express. If the car has only done 950miles and got through 2 clutches (is that right?) then its not for purpose.

Bet as soon as you threaten to go trading standards they get very co-operative

I'm not overly impressed with the DMF assembly, nor are the US VW /Audi customers who have had similar problems on the new Jetta and Golf models. From burnt out clutches to dead DMF assemblies within 500 miles etc etc the list goes on!

Either way it's down to SEAT and the dealer to prove that YOU caused the problem, if they can't prove it wasn't a mechanical breakdown then the part gets changed under warranty. Basic sales of goods act 1974 and consumer law should protect you as far as this.

Hope you get it sorted!

Two words for you seat LUK ****
Should have used sachs all the time instead of the other **** option and used LUK clutch and DMF.

I seen the pictures of his clutch as i work for sachs, and gave him an opinion on what i thought had possibly happened.

Also when you take the clutch out it will either have LUK or SACHS stamped on the dmf and clutch.

For anyone that might be interested in the DMF

So sachs > luk?
I wonder if anyone whose clutch fails within say... 10k miles can demand a sachs one if they originally had a luk one?

IIRC, they had a product recall with the LUK dmf for some reason, and changed them for the SACHS ones ;) only one real reason though  they're the best ;):D

I see your from bristol so i can guess what dealers (near weston-super-mare) you went to, and i understand your problems with them, i have had numerous issues aswell, we will not be using that dealer again, its very "computer says no" attitude

my advice, if you havent had your car for long, ie 1-6 months, ask for a full refund or a replacement, i spoke to trading standards and they helped out alot, litrally within 20 mins of me getting of the phone to them, the dealer in question amazingly had the door controller appear from thin air, it'd only been 5 weeks of waiting. Ive also managed to lever a couple hundred quid out of seat uk, and a free service.

you do have to make the "refund or replace" with the dealer as seat uk, cunningly "sell" the cars to the dealers, taking them out of the responsibility loop.

You have a PM  (or you will in a few mins)

The current state of play is this:

Once the cheques have cleared i'll let you guys know whats gone on. Its nothing exciting tho :(

SO they're just reselling it?
They've replaced stuff (I presume) but no idea what stuff. The inspection we had done said it'd need a gearbox too, cos of heat damage.

I just thought i'd let everyone know what to look for
