Well I have to say that I've never seen a faulty one, just me.
Airbag light will be the wiring under the seats, your auto electrician will probably tell you otherwise.
I'm begining to see a correlation between Naths. comment and the unfolding events.
I would want to pay a visit to the place that have your car and get them to show/demonstrate the fault and why they think the MFD is the fault.
Please make sure that if you go for it and have a new MFD fitted, you get the old "broken" one back in your hand too. After all, you own it and it would give you confidence that they are honest. Make sure you mention this before you go ahead with a new MFD, you never know they may suddenly find a cheaper fault.
I reckon they are loosening your belt in preparation to pulling your pants down. I'm just sayin'
I went over there earlier and they showed me that they have been testing individual parts behind the console as well. They suggested sending the part to be tested, if it comes back fine they will have to look at other solutions.
In other words they don't know.
How much do you owe them so far for not knowing?
So far, 45 quid.
All the wiring under both seats has been check and all seems ok..
Unless the wiring has been modified as per the vw TSB repair guide then it can still cause a fault.
If the fault is something like "N199 or N200 drivers/passenger airbag igniter upper or lower resistance limit exceeded" then the wiring is to blame.
Does your auto electrician not have a better code reader? If they don't, how can they take on jobs to repair faults?
Sorry I meant my 3rd party diagnostic tool which I used before the ignition went.
They are currently unable to do a diagnostic using their tools as there is no power getting to the port/system.
Sounds like a relay fault then?
