The owners manual states that cos the TCS works in combination with the ABS, if the ABS breaks down the TCS light also comes on.

I had this on mine, it was the front left wheel speed sensor, as Big Lad said Vagcom should find the problem though. I had it diagnosed and fixed at a local garage but looking in the Haynes it looks a pretty easy job, just wish I had Vagcom. Sensor was about 60 quid.

I scanned a TT the other day with ESP and ABS lights on. There were no codes stored unfortunately.

I suggested that it could be the ABS sensor after some research. (Which it was)

Also, brake pedal sensor is has a similar effect apparently. I would check if the brake lights work to see if its that.

If not, as above, perhaps speed sensor. Its worth a scan to see if there are any codes. Are you anywhere near Kent, if so, I could help?

ABS + TCS lights

Replying to this thread to prove I've done a search ;)

I have the same problem - ABS and TCS lights come on randomly every 3 or 4 starts. Upon turning ignition off and on again, only the ABS stays on then goes out after 30 seconds.

It seems from other threads that the sensor could just need a clean/refitting. So how easy is it to do that?? Is it a wheel off job?

Ta in advance for advice

Best to get the wheel off mate, easier to get in and about, usually just disconnect it and clean it out with some terminal cleaner and make sure nothings broken or loose.

This happened to me last week, turned out the n/s/r wheel sensor. However my mate at VAG said the most common reason is because of the brake light switch under the pedal.
