Ah i see. Is it going to cause an issue if i have ordered the AntiGalre?? HIDS4U advise that the Antiglare kit is not suitable for Projector Lenses so when i learned that the Mk Leon had Reflector Lenses i assumed i was on the right track??

Am i going to have issues or is it just a case that i defo wont get any glare now :p

All the lamp tip will do is stop the light coming out of the top/front straight out into the road. but because the leon has the metal reflector that will no be needed. Basically the metal reflector in the leon just bounces the light coming from the top/front back into the reflector.

You will not have any problems with the H7R versions, as the two will cancel each other out. You may however, wasted a tenner!

Guys - Checked and i can now see the metal reflector - Can see what you mean now. Kit has arrived, now just need to install it.
I know i have seen a Mk1 Leon guide to HID conversion on here but cannot find it (been searching and searching), Has anyone got the link to the guide??

Cheers guys.

CLICKY

It's a bit of an epic, and some photo's are missing, but you'll get the idea!

just been reading up on this, and also found the another massive HID guide

the one major factor that puts me off this conversion is drilling the hole on the casing on the back of the light (read from the main HID guide thread), as I prefer simple aspects such as bulbs etc to be as oem or as plug and play as possible

is there an ebay kit that is plug and play, or do all HID kits off ebay require the light casing to be drilled?

The casing as to be drilled so the grommet on the HID loom can seal, and the power from the ballast needs to get to the bulb.

hmmmmm ok then, thats a no from me then, as I like to keep the adjustability for the lights if need be

Adaptability how do you mean?
They are still fully adjustable the level motor still works fine.

There is no room to hide the ballasts inside the casing, i'd be really hard pushed to get my tiny ballasts in there, never mind the "regular" bigger ballasts.

Here are mine for comparison

oh sorry, so you mean the height adjustor when carrying extra passengers/luggage still works then to shift the beam higher or lower with HID's in, works then?

It's a worth while mod, and seeing as there are SO many car's out there now that are running HID / Xenon (what ever you want to call them) bulbs persons of authority are less likely to spot them.

I've passed 2 MOT's since having mine fitted with just a slight alignment adjustment after I fitted them.

As long as you stick to the lower temp ranges (personally wouldn't go above 5000K bulbs) then the light colour is perfectly acceptable!

heres a picture of mine from HIDs4U, they are the ultimate ones, cost bout 160 with a discount code! 8000k ones with the LED sidelights too (only one side has got it in because one was faulty)

very easy to fit, took about 40 mins tops

In another section of the forum there was a post concerning the legality of the HID conversions and it had a link to a video which compared standards lights and a conversion kit on a headlight beam tester to show all the glare around the main beam.

I would imagine that they just had a terrible kit for comparison but thought it might be useful if anybody was able to do a similar comparison with pics or even just a pic of the beam of their HID's in the beam tester, maybe try and compare the different kits

HID's with Projector lenses are awesome!!!

Uncle Fester has a pic somewhere in a thread that show that beam pattern off!!

I have the 6000k ones on mine and very happy with them. The difference in visabilty is impressive for such a reasonable mod. Just dont forget to get the led sidelights to complete the white look. Super easy to fit aswell and the only previous issue of hiding the ballasts (not much of a problem anyway) is no more with the new slimline ballasts (wish i had them on mine)!

Overall a very worth while mod!!
