High idle on start up

when i start my car up from cold it idles at about 1400 rpm and doesnt drop to normal for a minute or so. my mates cupras doesnt do it. anybody know what it could be.

mine does it only when its cold though!

Mine does the same, once the secondary air pump if off it calm's back down... known many Cupra's to do it.

didnt relise so many did. i thought something was up because two of y mates dont do it.

all cars do this when they start up. Usually idles about 1200 revs then drops to aboout 800/900 after a few minutes

Bloody hell mate what you got udner yours a rolls royce jet engine???

Think you added an extra 0 there!

Surely it is the automatic choke? Mine does this - especialyl when cold as mentioned above. In the summer it only stays there for 10 secs or so.

so i did my mistake changed it now for you

yeah it is just a automatic choke, you can't beat the old manual chokes though, there a good laugh in the winter!
