im sure you know kev? with the red ep3 his "standard" civic ran a 15 flat also seen some do a 14.9 in standard form at the pod.... vtec has to be driven properly otherwise can be very slow, ive been and done the whole VAG thing had a 20v turbo with a few bits and bobs done to it in an a3 but now own an ep3 totally different cars all together imo and ofc the jap one is better

As mentioned, ive never seen one do a 15 dead, more like 15.5. However id hope with the power they have, they can hit 15 seconds dead. However your also agree'd then that a remapped PD130 is still quicker, as with a mere 170bhp ive seen 4 different Ibiza TDi's all run under 15 seconds.

You have done the VAG scene with the PETROL, not diesel like this thread so sshhh

Where abouts are you d00d, was about to say I dont see yours, but dont know what im looking for really!

yes i know mine was petrol but if mine had 150bhp as standard then a remap, decat etc i would have thought i was in a good place to comment kevs was TOTALLY standard when it ran that now it has a spoon system thats about it

working in an accident repair centre i get to test drive a full range of cars and when one of many type r's turned up in the workshop i was excited to give it a good test (to an exstent) and imo i was dissapointed! the lack of torque REALLY SHOWS! in a straight line i was BORED! BUT when the vtec kicks in it does sound exceptionally nice! still no where near as fast as i exspected! and from being a passenger driver in ad lavs old pd 130 remapped i say that would give it more than a good go in a straight line and round the twisties BUT thats modifyed suspension and engine! if you put the two standard cars together the tdi would get beat FACT! modify them both with some amount of cash the TDI would get beat FACT imo type rs still arent all theyre hyped up to be but they are a proper high revving petrol head car! and i imagine the charged R's are fun!

problem here is this question is impossible to answer as they are two TOTALLY DIFFRENT CARS

Yeah, the gf's house TOTALLY standard still isnt as quick as a remapped PD130 however as per your own figures So £295 for a remap gets your diesel quicker than a Type R! Glad we sorted that out! lol

if you have a look on the 1/4 table on the CTR forum you will see the quickest standard CTR's have done is 14.4 and loads running 14.5's just from changing induction kit.... id say thats quick enough IMO for what it is



quick question, a fabia VRS stripped, remapped how would that compare to one of these ibiza's?

Fabia and Ibiza 130 are identical apart from the Ibiza being slightly lighter.

But only a touch, not enough to remove driver skill from the equation.

I wouldnt doubt it.

A remapped Fabia VRS/ Ibiza 130 wouldnt all out beat a Civic Type R, they'd probably just give them a scare 30-80.

Nail on head there I think.. There will be plenty of mapped 130 owners out there that have kept with or beaten CTR's. But get a decent driver in one and it can be a competely different story..
My standard one did a 14.5 @ 97mph..

Thats the thing with type R's, because of the type of engine in them you need to know what you are doing to get the most out of them.

@ POD? I cant get under 15.5 (with a passenger) in a Standard Cupra TDI. Saying that I was at Crail and the strip up there is terrible. Wonder what the best Cupra has done at POD? Type R's can hit 14s all day with a mediocre driver
