Just wondering if anybody could shed any light on this, got a 57 FR TDi, and whenever the temperature outside drops to around 6 or 7 and below, when I start my engine and move for the first mile or so there is a terrible, loud rattle coming from somewhere near the passenger side dash where it meets the windscreen.

Anybody heard of this before? Hoping it can be an easy fix, as I barely have any time to give it to the dealers for a few hours

the air ducts that carry the warm air to the vents are prone to rattles and pass very close to stuff under the dash

the a pillar trim rattles where it touches the dash (right at the bottom of the a pillar) stick a small bit of felt in there

also look at the glove box lid as it can be that, think there are 2 rubber stoppers that screw in/out to make the lid fit tight (same as the ones on the bonnet slam pannel but smaller)

failing that it could be the storage box under the radio or the radio wiring as it is very tight behind there

I have cured rattles/creaks in all of the above places and my bizza is nice and quiet now (fingers crossed)

some dealers offer collect and deliver service if you cant get to them

^^^^^^yeah if you like 17 year olds in yer car smoking and wheelspinning and scraping yer alloys and getting flashed by gatso's

not in my car thanks very much, if mine is in the stealers I stand and watch them for the first few times until I think I can trust them to be left alone with it

as I have said many times, if you want your car to go somewhere where it will not be respected one little bit, take it to a car dealer

get it collected/delivered and it will never be the same again

Noticed a small rattle every now and then in the exact same place you describe. It's also an FR 130 TDi. Going to have a look at adjusting the glove box rubber stoppers at the weekend but it seems to be coming from the top near the corner.

How easy is it to get behind the dash to fit some foam/felt around the air ducts and mounting points?

Has anyone posted a guide on dashboard removal?

i also get this rattle but its only a minor ticking sound that i gt once the car starts, last about 3 seconds. could anyone shed any light on this?

do you have climate control? could be something to do with that moving parts to redirect airflow.

i dont have climate control i dont think :s do you think its somehting to do with the cold?

&guiness i have had mixed reactions to my rear splitter EACH TO THIER OWN!

when the doors are open they expose a removable trim panel , once removed you can get right in there behind the dash well easy

Thanks Nathwarr,
found it and will be having a look tomorrow armed with a box of foam :D.
