hot start problem:
ive had a hot starting problem on my ibiza fr pd130 ASZ engine
so far replaced my temp sensor and had my injectors and cylinder head cleaned and seal replaced.
whilst getting a spare fuse from a friend we ran a volt meter across the battery to rule that out.
results were: 12v without key and with ignition on, then it dropped to 10v whilst it started and then back up to 14v whilst running! so probably not the battery....starter motor?
other things i think i need to check (after some research) are :
ignition coil
fuel pump
crank sensor

can anyone shed any light or suggest any more things to check please?
thanks in advance!

been reading into this my self could be a faulty temp sender or other are saying the engine needs 250 rpm before the injectors will fire.

dues to the heat of the engine its slowing the cranking down.

when i can be bother am going to current drop test the battery check all wire to starter motor and earths clean them up

other then that is the stater motor not spinning fast enough

does you start fine when cold?

I've got a hybrid garrett pd130 turbo, seat sport ic and custom remap to suit
I had a chat with the mechanic acquaintance yday and he reckons it could be the fuel pump!
The stuff i quoted I need to check was after mainly looking at mkiv forum and reading their problems with the pd130

I've had vag comm on it and the only thing we could find wrong (with the guy who tuned it) was that the actual fuel level was 20units under te requested.

The thing I don't understand is that if it was te fuel pump, surely there would be a problem on cold start ups as well?

It seems to be a fairly common issue on the TDI PD's, a lot of Cupra TDI's do the same. I think some VAG-COM logs need to be done, when cold, and repeated when hot and compare the 2, sounds like one of the sensors are playing up.

I have read that a faulty MAP sensor can have this effect as well as temp sensors.

also on renaults when they get hot they struggle to start it turns out to be the crank shaft sensor

but deffinalty need to put it on vag com

i thought we only have MAF sensors? but im probably wrong lol! where abouts is the MAP sensor in the engine bay? is it something i can change myself? very low on funds until...ever lol so needs to be as cheap as possible in terms of fitting lol!

Yes there is a MAP or thrust, pressure sensor. Mounts near the top of the intercooler on the ASZ engine. Part No. 038 906 051 C

It monitors the boost pressure or Manifold Absolute Pressure

Possibly because when it's cold it feeds in more fuel like a choke on old cars and when it's hot the air is less dense??? Just something I came across, while reading an article. Mine tends to struggle to start when hot too.

cool..that sounds interesting lol! another thing to add to the list to check out haha!

tonight...drove to my gf's (about 5/6 mins), stopped for 10, started like normal.
then to my parents place from my gf's (about 25 mins drive) another 10 minute stop and the car wouldnt start...it cranked and started ticking over but then just gave up and died out. waited about 5 seconds and restarted how it is always doing on hot starts.
anyway, drove back to mine (about 15/20 mins) and stopped, started her up again and this is what happened:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_5CwRMRPMg
which is its normal behaviour on hot start ups
