other than the cupra, if you get any mk4 TDi you can great gain for relatvily little money. If you look for Sportriders ride in the readers ride section you'll see what i mean. He started life with a 1.9TDI 100bhp engine, a few mods later, 160bhp 250ft/lb torque, its now quicker than a stock mk4 cupra tdi. I no it refuring to the dark side, but you will certainly notice the overtaking power of the tdi, compared to a petrol (i used to own a 64bhp 1.2 and a 100bhp 1.4 so i can vouch for that)

hmm, not exactly comparing like with like, I'm sure petrol FR and Cupra owners will tell you their cars have just as much scope for performance gains as the dervs.

very tru all FR and cupra are easily tuned, the point i was trying to make (all be it very badly :)) is that you dont need to spend the money on a top of the range cupra initially just so you can have a crotch rocket in the future, and yes i no a fully modded sport 100 TDi will never match a fully modded Cupra turbo or derv. the ultimate point i was trying to get to is that any engine with a turbo assist will reap bigger benefits to a normally aspirated engine (be it petrol or diesel) :)

Oh right, yes I was confused there for a minute, and your right, the PD130's are only in insurance group 8 iirc, as a pose to the petrol fr and cupras which are in much higher groups.
