How do you remove the lock from the ignition i have a barrel from the wrecker. I have changed the 2 front door locks and the glovebox to the same key as the spare barrel. Is this best left to a locksmith or can u DIY?
You can do it DIY mate, I did it a few months ago aswell, you do need to pull the steeringwheel off which can be kind of a PITA... You need a gearpuller, some vise grips and a drill though. There's a tutorial to take the steering wheel off over here: Fitting Mk3 steeringwheel on Mk2 Ibiza
But I think this one was more useful to me: DIY ignition switch removal procedure
I had another one somewhere too, but I can't seem to find it You should manage it with those 2 though.
Depends on what steering wheel you have tbh on how easy it is to take the wheel itself off(airbag or not, screw on bottom or not etc.)... You'd be lucky not to have an airbag... I didn't but I didn't have a screw/bolt on the bottom either... Took me ages to get the middle part of my wheel off and back on...
You need to get the grey metal part which holds the actual ignition barrel all the way off the steeringshaft... Then you need to drill a hole from the underside... Which is explained just fine here: DIY: Removing the lock cylinder from ignition housing.
So you can do it yourself if you're a bit handy ...
