i have always said lee-on as it doesnt sound so pansy as lay-on, but then i call seat my arm chair as its nice and comfortable 
'say-at lay-on' is correct according to everything i've heard. I've never said 'see-at lee-on', that's like saying I've got a 'fyord ees-cort' - lol!

ha ha! I have exactly the same responses and I am from Sussex too! Must be a southern thing.
