How many miles to a full tank ?

I have done 345 miles so far from a fill up and I have just gone over half way, in my 1.4tdi that was with millers too. And this is not motorway miles, town driving and running around, not been driving any different to normal.

Better than getting about 250 miles from a bmw when you drove it like a priest!

Im lucky i guess looking at what some of you people are geting, Mk4 FR 20vt, remapped to 194bhp, get between 120-140 from £20, 350 from tank filled to brim

I just got 110 ish miles from half a tank...that was town driving mostly aswell, wouldnt non standard alloys make quite a difference on a 1.2?

I wouldn't think rolling radius would change the fuel consumption noticibly, a lighter but larger radius wheel would prob take the same torque to rotate as a heavier but smaller wheel?

Might be worth looking at the Tyre Size calculator that my bro made for his website... let's you know a few things about changing wheels sizes, like speeds differences etc...

Got 390 miles till red light came on. which is bloody brilliant, as most driving was around town and then on A roads to work. Got 67.2mpg on a 32 mile trip to work the other day, about 1 hours driving. A roads and town. Was very impressed. I'm getting on average about an extra 7mpg after the remap i think.

Only thing i'm not sure on is how long to drive once the red light comes on. Seem to come on quite soon after a quarter on a tank...

Well mine's now showing 515 range, 239 since last fill-up = 754 miles to the tank.

that can only be motorway driving, over-inflated tyres and a light foot but very good...i can just about get over that in and around london

Actually I'm not sure that I could manage that on a motorway as the fuel economy starts to dip at those sort of speeds. My commute is between 45 and 55mph all in 6th gear. I've got an extra 2psi in the tyres, and a dash of Millers in each tank

How the hell do you manage that around London then?

ok my mini experiment has finally been completed

My old BMW 320ci m sport would take 65 litres of petrol on a 2.2 unleaded engine that I would use fuel additives to help manage fuel eco, would do on average about 300 miles to the tank on careful driving giving me an average of about 22.24mpg

I have just done 65 litres of diesel in my 1.4tdi that has a remap and custom exhaust, 17's been lowered and with millers added, and I have just completed 627 miles, this of course was done using a 40 litre fill up and a 25 litre fill up as the tank is smaller than the bmw but I am really amazed that i am doing double the miles, this is not doing eco driving, I am just bombing around enjoying my little beeza its like an eager puppy.

I am wondering shall i do a full on eco experiment and try to see if i can really significantly beat the 627?

in and around london i get around 400 miles if driven sensibly...no more than 360-380 if ragged out

I always fill the tank right up then run it to empty on the theory of i have to use fuel to drive to the petrol station. But last night I put a huge 51 litres into my car... What size tank do these things have on them as I thought it was only a 45 litre?

You probably "vented" it while refueling - also I think you can get more fuel in, if your refueling in the early morning because the pressure or something is lower :s (Mr Clarkson said it i believe).

i put 25 pounds worth of petrol that was at 1.1p a litre and i got 180 miles on a 1.2 12v ibiza .. is that good?

How did I do that?! Confussed.

The early morning thing is about low temperatures. The lower the temp the less volume the same amount of fuel takes up. So the pump measures a litre the same everytime but the litre just so happens to contain a few more yummy petrol molecules.
