How many more miles can I expect from my Engine?

Riight chaps my £800 99 cupra 8v has reached 143000 today and I am getting a bit worried the engines is going to go pop soon. I changed the oil every 5000 miles and an engine flush as well. I bought the car in October when it had 124000 miles on the clock. Apart from a bit of ticking everything sounds fine.

Its gotten me up to Aberdeen, down to Cornwall and to London and back 8 times. The only thing its needed is an ignition coil.
I know you can't predict these thing but I am just wonder till how long a piston decides its had enough and wants out.

Depends how the other owners have treated it. Probably another 200k if its been treated well.

Yes, 200000 more. two hundred thousand. Those engines are "bullit proof" (pending further investigation)

I think another 200k is opimistic..... maybe 60k more before things start wearing out.

then again - pick a new engine up for £200 & chuck that in in an afternoon.

id say up to 200k + m8 if ya treat it right . look at the 2.0 8v golfs on piston heads , 158k 170k etc and they still sell on well . theres a guy on my vectra forum who has 300k + on his clock lol

Ive heard of vws doing well well over 500000 iirc.
