hi i know iv got a mk3 ibiza cupra and i no its olny running 206bhp (revo):p
but iv got uniroyals on mine had them on a few previous cars to if im honest these tyres are amazing they really are cannot fault atall if you want excellent grip in the dry and pretty much the same amount of grip in the wet get these bud they really are good tyres and they wear alot less than toyo t1rs that for sure my tire size is 205 40 r17 you can get uniroyal rain sport2s on ebay 4 for around the £250 mark
just my input

As per title really.... When I bought my lcr it had 4 new tyres on but they are all very cheep low end tyres from a make ive never heard of!! Since the rain has started I have next 2 ZERO grip in the wet at both front and back end. How much of a differance will top end tyres make and is it worth the £££'s to change them as the ones on now are pritty much brand new!

As others have said - MASSIVE difference. I've had conti's (sport 2 and 3), Goodyear GSD3, and Falken FK452.

Just got a set of Hankook Ventus V12 Evo after recommendations on here and they are BRILLIANT! Around £95 quid each fitted too if you know where to go :)

What did you go for in the end?

I use conti sport contact 3 as my summer tyres. They are fairly good in the colder stuff and have been used in tests against winter tyres and performed very well (apart from snow conditions).

I pay £85 a corner from a very good independant supplier, but that's for 17's (225/45).

Steer away (no pun intended) from the cheap tyres. Have a look at this link

I feel really lucky..... I picked up 4 brand new 245/40/18's toyo proxie T1R for £200 from a m8 who'd bought them for his car but they rubbed when he put them on so needed rid! The grip is now much much much better and dont know if it is the change in size from 225 to 245 butthe car feels much better all round on the road!

On my Starlet I run Toyo T1Rs, brilliant tyre and extremely cheap (£30 each) but those are for 15's

Performance is excellent both wet and dry, and the wear isn't bad either!

I got a set of 4 wen i went to quik fit. Midrange tyre called marigoni. They are ok. Obviously ur not gonna get a tyre that wont spin in the wet. Even with the standard power of the lcr and lc's. They cost me 400quid for all 4 fitted

Marigoni pmsl WTF are them???
1 up from nankang?

Mines mapped and i really put the Avon zz3 i got with my new wheels recently, through their paces, and boy do they inspire a lot of confidence.

Spinning wheels, i was really hard pushed to get mine to loose grip, only being a nutter would have probably managed or using marigolds for tyres ;)

For that £400 you could have got some decent tyres.

They're italian sports tyres and they're used on the Fiat 500 for racing. They're pretty good. My mate used to have them on his Golf VR6 and that thing was glued on every bend in the wet and he wasn't hanging about. They're way better than Nanking. I was also using them until recently.:funk:

I'll leave the toyos till summer then! any other mid range ideas??? all welcome then I can go and do a bit of homework on them

Your saying 'leave them to the summer' then why not get some winter tyres? If last winters anything to go by and you actually like your car on the road and it's your first winter you won't regret buying them and it will preserve your summer tyres when things warm up again.

I had the same problem wen i got my lcr.. 3 diffrent makes of tyres on it..the drive was really rough but about a week ago i bought soke bridgestone potenza's adrenaline 2's all round.. Cost a few quid but it now grips loads better, much smoother ride and look alot better on the car.. Definatly worth getting a good set of rubbers mate!
