how much do you have in reserve?

just thought id put a thread up to see what people get out of there petrol tank when the petrol light comes on!
the past cole of weeks iv been realy buzy and have'nt filled up when i normaly do whitch is 1/4 tank and iv let get as low as the light come on and soon as it on the gauge gose right down to the bottom within 5-10 miles! is any one else's like this?

yeah mine doesnt last long at all!

i think when the light comes on im suppost to have about 7 litres left but it doesnt seem that much, goes real fast!

im like you, when the light comes on, its a dash to get fuel...

I have went 47 miles with the light on but mines a diesel and it was running on fumes at the very last mile, coughing and spluttering

think according to the trusty handbook it's supposed to be apx 5ltrs/gallon. I think i've got about 25 outta mine before panic n the nearest petrol garage set in!!! Wouldn't have let it get so low though if there were any bloody garages left around here without going 3miles off route!!!!

if i do over 15 miles my needle wont move when i turn it on!as i say tho i never let it go below 1/4

You'd be surprised how far you can go with the light on.

When I took it to the Alps last year, we were going from a town at the bottom of a valley up to a village via a 50km, 50 minute mountain pass.

The light came on about a third of the way when we were going UP the pass. We got to the campsite with the needle touching the last marker. The next day we came all the way down (using barely any throttle, i admit) and filled up.

Ive got a diesel so it does a good bit, think i got 40 out of it once, but cant really remember, dont like doing that much because the crap in the tank goes into the engine.
Is everybodies car like mine in that the 1st quarter lasts ages, but the last quarter just drops?!

Done 50 miles on the light in the cordy and 70 miles on the light in my old 1.4 all motorway cruising. the 1.4 cut out coasting in to the fuel station

I ran out of fuel at 3 am last month in the middle of Anglesey. The AA man wan't best pleased. At least they turned up pretty quickly.

i was pushing the limits with my one today! (i think lol). the light always comes on as soon as i hit 1/4 of a tank (crazzzzy) and then the needle shoots straight to the bottom like others said within about 10 miles, but i seem to be able to get about 25/30 miles before i also get too scared of running out and have to fill up!

I've managed over 40 miles on mine, and it cut right out just before I got to the petrol station, so I had to coast the last few yards (it was a right turn so I'm glad no cars were coming the other way). Lady luck must have been watching over me that night.

Iv managed 60 miles in my 1.4 motorway cruising. I got 30 miles in the cupra and ran out of fuel 1 street away from the station lol.

dam that makes me want a diesel! been thinking about geting a passat tdi or a 1.8t the tdi is £10 more insureance wise,but i only do 10k a year and about 9k is round town so wouldnt realy benifit with a diesel!
