how to change cup holder!!!!

hi all i have a new cup holder to put into my leon cupra but im not sure how to remove the old one can anybody help.

hi mate,
take you silver surround off first, thats sterio out, remove ashtray (1 torx screw inside) and then there are 4 torx screws holding the face plate on, 2 where you just removed the sterio and 2 where you just removed the ash tray.

its a pain in the arse. its like taking a sterrio out, there are 2 plastic flip up bits on the top of the cup holder, you need to slade a couple of knives on top to push them down, it sounds easy but its not as they put up a fight, keep pulling on it and it will give, i spent a day removing mine. and 1 minute replacing it.

It can be a bit of APITA you will need to remove the fascia, ashtray and stereo, stereo first as this covers the fascia screws undo the screws and then the ashtray there are two screws at the back under ashtray then the fascia will come of go carefully it is clipped in then it will help if you remove the switches hazard and rear window demist and the blank this helps you to see the top of the cup holder the cup holder is self has two clips at the top which have to be pressed down at the same time then put your hand through the stereo hole and try to pull it forward.
If you look at your new holder you will see where the clips are the small tab at the back just locates with a slot at the back

Is there a difference between the cup holders, or are you just replacing a broken one?

kris is just replacing a broken one, i removed mine to put a gauge in its place
