Hi does anyone now if its possible to change o/s cv boot without disconnecting the transmission side?
My main concern is damaging the inner joint aswell
If its just the gaiter that needs changing its fairly straightforward, but go for a pricey (non cheap plasticy) boot kit as the plastic ones tend to pop off after about 2 miles.
Grease everywhere, dry joint and an even lighter wallet!

I need to now if its o.k to knock the outer c.v joint off whilst still on car, or do i need to use a special tool as i'm concerned the inner joint might get damaged by whacking the one end of with a mallet
When I did mine I removed them from the G box. It'll be a lot easier in the long run. I can just imagine how hard it would have been trying to do them in place with everything getting in the way, especially when trying to grease them up and putting the clamps/Clips on.
No first time. I usually change the whole drive shaft (aint done one in a long time though ), but on this occasion i decided to change the complete joint as i got my hands on one for extra nothing. On a few of the forums it states that the centre nut is 30mm mines seems to be allot bigger. Time to buy the right size socket i guess
Just was trying to avoid taking of as i hate spline bolts, had bad experience with them once. O WELL looks like i'm going to take it of and do it tomorrow. Thx for the help
