How to find out engine number?

Just received my log book from the DVLA and it states engine number unknown. I would prefer it to be recorded for when the time comes to eventually sell it on.

I bought it from Motorpoint in Burnley and knew it was a grey import (destined for Cyprus but it is full UK spec). It's not detailed on the EU certificate of conformity. I rang my local Seat dealer who cannot find it on their system as it is an 'import'. Seat assist also unable/unwilling to help.

I know from the sticker in the boot and the service book that the engine code is BXE, just not the number.

Under the bonnet there is a 6 digit number on the barcode label on the cambelt cover which starts BXE. I am pretty sure this is the engine number.

Is there someone in the know out there who can confirm it to me before I contact DVLA to have it amended?

Many thanks.
