Hi guys and gals
Well anyone that knows me will know how much time, money and sweat i have shed into creating the mk1 LCR that i always wanted. Well there are a few things i have left off of my wanted list, ie exhaust, intercooler and stage 2 etc etc. I am unsure why i havent continued.....maybe scared of ruining the car i have wanted since 2003??? It almost seems like the car has taken ages to be modified. Most folks on this forum buy the car, and fully mod it before its a year old, however i have had the car now nearly 5 years, bought it with 3000 on the clock and payed aroung 16k for it.

Well it just seems lately im falling much out of love with it...for example, the car still feels sooo uncomfortable (even with the coillies on max comfort- or am i just getting old!!), the jacking point cover came off and was scuffed to death, which needed the doors to be repainted too, someone crashed into the front of the car a few months back and it looks a disgrace, but for some reason i have no intentions of doing it up. The wheels need a new refurb, new brakes (me being me i will only buy the lghtweight 2 piece from badger bill) i seem to be holding off getting these brakes incase i decide to sell up. Havent washed the car in months and to top it off its overdue a service by a couple of months and if im honest i couldnt care less. The car is running fine tbh just the above stuff.

Well my dilema is...is there anything i can do to rekindle the love for the car. Should i just invest in a new remap and a good service?? or refurb the wheels a new colour, refurb the brembos and get new brakes? Or the job lot.....exhaust intercooler and stage 2? The car does seem to feel slow these days, maybe i need an aggressive map???

any help here guys otherwise the car will be going and i will go travelling...

It took me a year of leaving it in a friends field rotting to rekindle my love. Try taking it to a track and kaning the balls of it?

Hahah very true....however when the car is clean (and i mean clean clean..as in bret clean) then it looks awesome, but when its dirty i just get the same old 'i just cant be assed anymore'....until of course, its clean again lol

yea been there many times brett tbo and come to think of it its there a again not been washed for a month need bits and bobs doing to it but carnt be arsed with it but when i can be arsed to clean it again ill like it again lol.

Fill it up find sone nice country roads and plant it the fix it up TO SELL and I bet you by the time you've finished fixing it up you'll be kissing the bonnet and stoking the wheel again ;) then do the job lot and go stage two plus :)

If your not willing to heavily mod it then get out clean/detail it top to bottom, the LCR looks still impresses me when she's clean, after that bring it for a spin and drive the nuts off it.

Failing that bring a lessor car for a spin just to see how punchy the remapped LCR is and if all else fails, sell it, i am finding it hard not to buy a Subaru Impreza WRC STI hawk eye model that I have my eye on, a few grand and you'd be pushing 400bhp with nearly same torque with 4wd, if only it didn't look like a hooligans car and it would pass anything but a petrol station.

finally someone with a half decent answer, cheers robbie.

Yeh im more for the detailed side of things which is why i maybe never chased the power side of things. Dont get me wrong, i drive the car how its meant to be driven, just unsure if for the time being i should just change maps. Anything that doesnt change the cost of the insurance or declare to the insurance company.

revo is a no no nowadays as apparantly it has changed and become more progressive.....sometimes just throwing down the throttle i get the feeling there should be more or something...

Actually i think the car needs the following for me to fully smile again...

* Full service
* full wheel refurb and callipers painted the brightest red.
* detailed by Maz (fullWERKES)
* A new stage 1 map
* Badger bill 2 peace brakes

I was in the same position as you, the car developed a few faults (sensors & leaks) and I lost my way. I'd not have forgiven myself if I got rid not knowing how good it could be so I ploughed money into and exhaust, FMIC & Stage 2. My word, we're in love again, I've never driven anything so brutal. I know that it's not got 400bhp but the way that it now delivers its power is just plain raw and a mile above Stage 1. She'll be staying for a while yet :).

Im in a similar boat bret... Its my wife's daily drive, so i cant really pull it to bits like i want to, and i dont really have the cash to spunk on it either. Its a toughie. Ive also come to the conclusion that i shouldnt have bought it in the first place, and should have gone for a B5 audi S4, and progressively tuned that instead.

get all the niggles done mate that are annoying you! then if you feel the same its time to move on.......

guess you not going inters this year - i bet you would have got all that stuff done with a show to motivate you.

very true mate, maybe thats why im not going to inters....ie, cos i cant be bothered to sort them all out. I just spent some money on a holiday which would of quite easily sorted out all the wrongs of the car, but i'd rather go exploring the world tbh atm

I think we all wish we had more money to spend on our cars, every time I get to the stage of doing something next a service or MOT comes round and I'm advised of certain things need done which takes the £300/400 I planned on exhaust system or weitec coilies shelved again. Kicks you in the stones but as you say above when you give the car some spit and polish you fall in love again. I spent a good 4/5 hrs cleaning and polishing my car a couple of wks ago and was standing there thinking how much I love the car even if it is a black hole for money.

I have just had this with my old car, was out of love with it topped off by my gearbox blowing up. So was driving my sisters lupo for a couple of weeks whilst my gti was off the road.
But after it had a new clutch, box and a few other niggles it had. I drove it again and absolutly loved it, but then i bought my LC so now its for sale lol. But my point is drive something you dont want to drive for a bit sort the niggles give it a good clean and i bet you will love it again.

Just go to inters as a day out and after perusing a few motors you will get ideas for some little things to do and give you some enthusiasm
