how to remove metal clip around gear knob (pic included)

hi,
i tried to replace the gear gaitor but couldn't remove the knob because of this metal clip around it

someone have any clue how can i get rid of it??? and once i remove it , do i have to buy a new one from the dealer ?

bend it with pliers, I did, it the only way yes it will muller it but there's no other way. I'm sure a jubilee clip will do the same job.

muller it and then replace witha cable tie, a lot easier to remove in future.

side cutters, and yes replace it with another as these are best to hold it with, they are pennies anyway from halfrauds or any diy store

here are some pictures , i've also played with the gear knob a little and painted the white stiches to red.

That`s what I did when I changed mine, and used pliers to squeeze it back together... still going strong!

A bit late, but, I used two smallish screwdrivers and opened up the crimped ends slightly - then as above used a blunt pair of side cutters to close them up again. (I've forgotten if there is one or two ends crimped!)

I destroyed mine with a screwdriver. It's never going on again anyway as I got the Cupra knob and gaitor, so no loss there.
