Howdie! Just bought an ibiza so I thought I'd say hello

After searching for months, I finally got myself (share with the wife) an ibiza tdi sport. I am still a little confused by all the names for it, but its got a six speed box and apparently 130 bhp (though it doesn't have the funky colour coded surrounds around the speedo

I am well chuffed and after testing it I fully understand why an owners club has been made and this user forum is massive! Great cars

I paid £4200 for it its an 03 plate with 78,000 miles. I know its a little high mileage, but its been stamped up to 75k in the book and the condition is immaculate even underneath.

What do people think of the price is it ok?

The dealer assures me that he got his garage mate to change the cambelt (but no water pump (always annoys me when they dont do this). The book will also get stamped (again he assures me) but I'm parannoid its not been done, What do you guys think I should do? I may get it done after a year as its got AA warranty for a year so hopefully it should cover any problems (anyone got experience with these AA after sale covers? its the 5 star one if that means anything).

One final question, when I tested it...although it was very very quick I could not hear the whistle of the turbo... Is this normal or should I hear it? I had the windows closed.

The surrounds around my speedo and dials are gloss black (52plate Sport) What colour is your car?

With the windows up you can't really hear the turbo whistle, get them down and you can really hear it!

The car is gunmetal grey (not my favourite but really wanted 5 door).

To be honest they may have been colour coded, but I could not remember.

Is the cambelt change every 60K? How much on average for cambelt and water pump change? I have read around £350, is this about right?

Ive got the FR Tdi so the same set up as yours. You will need the window down to hear the whistle i dont think its as loud as petrol turbos though.

Third gear, floor it, at 30 mph and its deadly esp up a slight hill with some berk behind

welcome mate, you'll enjoy the car, the price you paid is expected from a dealer and there arent as many 5 door TDI Sports about so worth the little bit extra

sounds like my car that, same color same spec and abrt same milliage when i got mine lol,

id say a good price that, i paid 3,5k for mine but the garage i got it from thought it was a 100bhp version with 5 speed, they only noticed what it was until i went to look and told them which vesion it was so they had to sell me at the lower price.

and i agree with above with 3rd at 30mph

Have you seen the ibiza owners club? They're just dedicated to the ibizas. A lot of members are part of various clubs on here.

sounds like you got a really good deal, especially if you get a warranty too

you made a great choice with the ibiza, they're fantastic cars and look just as good too. diesel as well, good choice. they remap really well and the milage is impressive. i want a diesel for my next ibiza (wont be for a while though)

re: the turbo..... on the test drive, you said it was quick...... if the turbo wasn't working, it wouldn't be quick
