does the rear washer work? if it don't the washer pipe may have come off behind the boot lid.
hope this helps.

no it doesnt work actually. but wouldnt that cause the water to be in the boot? its only the passenger footwell in the rear thats wet, everywhere else is bone dry. i just wondered if a water drain ran down there or something?

the rear washer jet pipe has a few joins in it so dont rule it out as its the most common

A very likely cause in the seal on the door skin on the passanger side. If you remove the outer door card, under that is a skin that holds the window mech and stuff in place, I retightened all the bolts and put some odourless silicon around the bottom of this. It sorted my problem out. A new seal can be obtained from the dealers though. This happened on my 52 Plate 130 TDI Sport.
