The other thing of course, is to those who say they have a car that's equal to the Cupra R because they bought a Cupra and modified it... what when I remap my LCR? Then for £500 more I have a car that's equal to an R32, Audi S3, BMW 330, 350Z and many many more.... or do I?

equal in what way though? power maybe? brakes?

still be an lc or lcr. just faster remapped version. if you want an lc to look like an lcr wheres the point? both are excellent platforms for advancement

I like all leons from the bottom to the top range. When i bought my car i was just looking for a leon any one would have been nice but all i found in my area was the one i have, so i had to have it! as i have been on this site i have seen some really nice looking leons and i have learnt alot about my car but seeing what some of you guys have i really want a more modern look so all i can do is make a few changes here and there to do the best i can and save hard for a butter looking leon. I know what you mean the black strip and alloys on my car make it look a bit old so maybe in a few months you will all think it looks a bit better?? But i really like the colour of mine, how many do you see on the road? not many i bet!

That's my point. You have to do a lot more than remap, brakes and suspension to make an LC equal to an LCR. Just in the same way I have to do a lot more than a remap to make my car equal to the ones I mention. I simply don't take the point that an LC with 210+bhp, bigger brakes and coilovers (or similar) is equal to an LCR as there is a lot more to the car than that.

I think the point is being missed here a little...

when I buy my cupra I am not going down the route to try and make it perform or look like an LCR

If I wanted to do that then I would fork out the extra money an actually buy an LCR

but the Leon i am getting is a fantastic price and having test driven one, drives fantastic...also financially i have to be a little sensible

Besides as mentioned the LCR's do look fantastic, but very in your face. I feel they that they look "fast" which is what i dont like, been there and done that with my last Ibiza Cupra.....the "euro" look is very much different and more subtle and IT'S what i am trying to achieve here

out and out performance, the LCR wins hands down, but of course as the saying goes, you pay for what you get.....and for 5K and to be getting the type of spec vehicle i am getting, i could not do any better and with the money i am saving, it will be spent on wheels and suspension and still be a hell of a lot less than an LCR and still have money left over....of course the performance is not there, but thats not my main interest right now.....perhaps later, i for one know it is a very slippery slope

didnt expect this thread to get this much attention :p

is it just me, but i like people to look at my car? understated? i like 18s, brembos and the splitter catching on speed bumps! guess im just a show off, i would never have considered any other leon tbh, think the others are a bit luke warm.surely everyone who has a leon really wants an lcr?, but running costs are a factor.

nope. im glad i got the lc... lcr may have even been a cheaper option with the mods ive done. but suprising people with a very modded cupra is more fun than in an lcr which looks the quicker car.

running costs i wouldnt have thought were that different?

lol, as said earlier mate, if i wanted an LCR i would be buying one

have done the whole bling, in your face car and wanting to be noticed, and with my old Ibiza, i was getting people trying to race me all the time etc, and i just grew very tired of it

since going to Edition38 last year, i fell in love with the whole euro dub scene, dont want a Golf as thats what i am selling now, so been there and done that, now wanting to get a Leon, 18's and lowered and a few other minor cosmetic touches

running costs? same arent they, both have the 1.8T....maybe servicing is more for the LCR cos of the brembo replacement etc, but depends where you go for servicing costs really

never really understood the spending thousands on mods mate, way i see it, just buy the fastest, best lookin and best handling model they do, save some money instead of mods, get some money back at the other end, buy something better. but im sure it surprises with 320 bhp mate.

ive never really understood it either  :ban:

very different way of looking at it. if i wanted a cheap a to b car id have got a beemer! but wanted somthing faster and more fun.

couldnt afford the likes of stis evos due to running costs. but ive now got a car that matches power of 400bhp m5s and its cost 15k:-o in total.

not looking to make money from the car... just enjoy it:D

could you justify a 500 quid remap for your car? spose it depends on the enjoyment level powerwise? slippery slope....

320bhp......

ha ha! no way, it just causes too many issues with the car running and more hassle then its worth, it has to be a daily driver as well remember

well in the views of the LCR i really wanted one and love everything angle too them. theres lots of angles i hate on the new leon one thing i do love is the front wipers makes a great difference. I have an LCR kit of my 1.9 tdi fair enuff its the 130 but the turbo is the only difference to the 150. i have my chipped by van arken to about 170bhp. and this morning pissed all over a brand new vauxhall astra sporty french thing and wasnt even trying.

mine is a daily driver;) and no issues so far (runs outside and hugs a tree)

songman on here is running his lcr at 360/70 odd.

seriously 10k on from conversion and not even a dodgy maf

Was the Astra trying? And how long have Vauxhalls been French?

If you dont like the wipers on your Leon swap them for some Aero ones!

500, yeah, its cheap for an extra 25 bhp, but i mean, 140 bhp that you got is a lot more than that, then the wheels, suspension and brakes etc ads up, the r already has it. and the guy in the m5 couldnt care less! he has an m5!

i think this is a discussion where peoples views will be very different, but hey thats the good thing about this debate

LC or LCR, both great cars in their own ways

the only lcr additions to my cupra are brembos. suspension is better than the lcr so im told. wheels 18x 7.5 not sure what the lcr has.

your looking purely money and missing my point. i care about how fast it goes more than what i spend. thats why i bought a sports hatch.

you can justify spending 500 for more power. i just went futher.

and m5s ect are bothered or they wouldnt keep chasing me!

when i was younger at a show there was a triumph herald with a top speed of 150mph. just loved the idea of an under dog car being modified. more fun than a fast sports car.

do the new LCR's come with full leather interior, as only ever seen them in cloth
