Right, a quick question. In my 1.4 DAB Ibiza when setting off there is a slight delay between puttin your foot down, and revs actually building up. Not long, but definitly noticeable, and my brothers 1.4 Sport is the exact same so im guessin its not my car. Is this just a quirk of the smaller engines or is there something I can do to improve this?? Cheers

Nope, thats a 1.4 N/A pulling a ton and abit of car mate...

yeah Im talking about before you even move. Before you touch the clutch. It feels like the accelerator isnt actually mechanically connected. Which maybe it isn't...

Throttle response on my 1.4 Arosa was poor, it could just be that. What happens if you try and blip the throttle what happens?

well there will be a very short delay then it will rev up and down. Probabyl nothing, just noticeable from all other similiar powered cars I've driven.

My Cupra has a very small delay when you blip the throttle. It's because its drive by wire so the ECU has to work out the fueling and throttle position based on all the sensors and other variables.

just been out for a drive and i cant say i noticed this on mine!

Its there on all VAG 1.4, 16 valvers.

Stick your car in first, be at a standstill and try to pull off quickly.....it aint happening. You have to give the louder pedal some beans before raising the clutch to pull off sharply and even then there is still like a slight delay or hesistant response.

Having driven 1.2 polo's I can confirm that they do not suffer from this issue at all and therefore when in a standing start race my mate gets off the line alot quicker unless I have a perfect launch.

But to have a perfect launch you have to be prepare for it and in a real life scenario this isnt really possible.

Now for a solution.

Take your car to revo and get them to do their free trial remap. The 1.4's hesitation could possibly be something that could get mapped out. Try it and report back ;)

i drive a Transit Connect at work all day which makes the ibiza supersonic and massively fuel efficient!

im getting rid of it in 25 days (not that im counting:whistle) an its not like there is anywhere close to have this done!

Then there is the cost of the Map at £319

lol even the transit connect is more responsive from a standstill but still slow.

And the solution was for the thread starter. I know that you are onto faster and better things ;)

Ive got the new 1.4 sport 100ps, whenever i stick my foot down theres no delay at all. Is yours the DAB with 75 horses or 100?

Something you could try which can improve the responsiveness is an ECU reset. Do a search for info on it but basically you disconnect the battery (make sure u have radio code) and then you can get it to adapt to your driving a little better.

Doesnt work with the responsivness on the 1.4

Its hard to explain what exactly happens, but it definetly is there hence why alot of SEAT dealerships tell young drivers that "off the line the 1.2 is actually just as fast if not fater than the 1.4" which is in a way actually 100% true. However once you reach 3rd gear its bye bye 1.2

Every 1.4 has the responsive issue whether its the 75hp, 85hp or the 100hp model.

I'm Getting the 1.4 16v sport in a couple of days so i will report back my findings. If this is true then i might have to get a trial map to see if that sorts it.
If so i will get it remapped cos i know that sorts out throttle response and may give a little xtra umph!!!:funk:

One question though, can you fit a cupra air intake to the 1.4 sport??
Thanks

Not sure on that question dont think anyone here has tried before although it has been discussed.

Am i talking abut the PD160 intake when i say cupra??
Will the PD160 fit a 1.4 sport?
Cheers

Yea PD160 is a diesel Cupra. I'm not sure if it would work with the 1.4 as they have a different air box setup afaik.
