What are my options?
i want a clutch (mine is slipping a bit now i have 1/2 decent power) that is uprated, but has to be a direct fit, without changing flywheels etc.
So, what is there availible thats a direcet fit?
and how much am i likely to pay?
Finally, is it a big job on the ibiza, or is it alright?
Thanks
Mark

Might be worth going down to a local 'MR CLUTCH' outlet, and checking prices on SACHS clutches, they are v.good uprated replacements, from experience, I had one on my Uno Turbo.

It may be worth checking if the LCR clutch fits... As thats built for stock 225bhp or even the Audi TT 225 clutch.

They may well fit, hopefully others can confirm.

Stnd Ibiza 20vt clutch new inc vat and delivery is £116. This is for a sachs oe one not a replica. If u wanna go real uprated then u need to go the new flywheel route. Cheapest is prob a stnd g60 clutch £95 and a lightened flywheel £150 if my memorys right. How many miles has your oringinal clutch done. I am on 42,000 miles and my car has been chipped from 13,000 and i went to k03s at about 29,000. And i am now on IHI with the 42,000. and still running the stnd clutch. Heres a link to a clutch supplier site.

done 35k.
used to slip with revo. cars had revo between about 10k miles - 30k miles. then stock for about 2k miles, then ko3s and slips abit.
i think revo seems to kill clutches, seems a few others who had revo now have slipply clutch.
Is there no actual bolt on direct uprated clutchs then?

so if i got a std corrado G60 flywheel (where would i get one from?) and a std g60 clutch, that would all bolt straight on and would be bigger/ better than stock ibiza setup?

Already looked at the link above, i thought if it needs to be changed, i may as well upgrade to help stop it going again!?

Cheers for info
Mark

Jabba say a g60 setup is good enough even for IHI. U could use a g60 lightened flywheel from Atp and a stnd g60 clutch of the site above or get a g60 flywheel of a vw dealer. If i was u i would just go with a stnd clutch again but i depends what u do with the car track or drag strip. If it spends most of its time just doing road use then stnd would be okay. I also hear the diff pins can be a problem even on stnd or just chipped cars. Theres no easy cheap answer to the clutch/gearbox/diff problems. When mine starts to play up before or after Christmas whichever comes first i will go Peloquin LSD and a uprated clutch with lightened flywheel. Sachs (Impossible performance) do a complete kit of clutch and lightened flywheel and all the bits for about £435.00.

so you honestly think that the std replacement sachs clutch would be ok?
i read that when bill had his replaced it was actually a LUK one?
Never been on a track day, and ive only ever done 3 1/4 mile runs, all on the same day, so i think its fair to say most of my driving is "fast road"
Cheers

I have heard stock clutch is good for 250bhp @ the wheels about 275bhp@ the crank. I think Bills slipped very early on when just chipped but look at the hammer that car takes. Stnd clutch £116 then fitting or g60 and lightened flywheel setup £250-£300 then fitting. Or a quite high spec clutch for i would think £450-£600. And theres even more costly ones than that. A lot depends on the power/torque of the car what u use it for mainly, budget, and if your keeping the car long term.

haha, same thing happened to me mark, Welcome to the club! :p

We are looking at G60 options with lightned balanced flywheels at the minute, if you interested could possibly help you out??

What was it you said to me on sunday.... "Ive got to stop buying stuff you, Stop bringing new stuff out" lol

haha, yes mike, i think they were my exact words!! :p

I may be interested yes, it depends on cost really though, and when it will be available. I may just risk it and go for a std replacement, but it seems a bit silly to do that if my one is slipping, but then again there are those whos clutchs dont slip. i see a link, it being revo!?
Is there somewhere i can get a ready lightened and balanced flywheel from (g60), i wouldnt know where to get one done if i went that route?!
Also, the G60 one is different to ours right, in that ours are dual mass and the G60 ones are normal ?

*cough*
Excuse me... :p

It slipped at 12k miles whilst just Oettingerd.. and was'nt track hammered back then... compared to these days.

VR6 clutch setup on mine..
Helix

i emailed ATP earlier about shipping for the lightweight G60 flywheel, isnt that what i need, not the vr6 one?

What would be the disadvantage of using a stock flywheel over a lightened and balanced one?
Mark

Get a g60 clutch, and buy a g60 flywheel from your local vw garage. I am sure jabba can tell u the exact parts u need. Then when it goes next time its just a £95 g60 clutch + fitting. I think i will be going g60 with a lightened flywheel and a peloquin lsd.

bill i bet the vr6 and helix combo is big bucks though? (all in)

Not any different than G60.. same style flywheel, so takes 228mm clutch which is VR6 and or G60 spec. Lots more choice once you have ditched the dual mass flywheel arrangement.
Helix is'nt the cheapest but is UK manufactured... Reckon on ~£350 for the clutch parts plus flywheel. New ABF style flywheel, which is what I got, was £220 plus machining to lighten/balance it (£40)
G60 good quality spec clutch is said to work ok also.. and probably be lighter pedal. My Helix is heavier than stock, not too bad, but definately different. The Helix will have stronger rating than OE G60 tho.. Its a competition spec part.

I originally ran the Helix VR6 organic centre plate, which is pretty abrupt on take up and when you have a worn release bearing can feel a bit juddery on take up. Strangely my current 6 puk paddle Helix is smoother on progression than the organic was.. which I was'nt expecting. when converting to ABF/G60 flywheel, also allow for new flywheel mounting bolts..

your clutch setup as is is dual mass and combined with the clutch is fecking heavy..
No real need to lighten it IMHO, but its easy to do if your getting the job done anyway...
Helix do now do the kit... following me telling them whats involved.. 1.8T fitment is new. Its their flywheel and a 228mm clutch, either G60 or VR6. Does'nt have to be their flywheel mind you, stock ABF/G60 will do.
I'm not aware of dual mass upgrades which are comparible to this route personally. (not saying there is'nt, but the choice will be small)

another option.. pending shipping costs are one of the many choices in the USA right now.. exchange rate is favourable if carriage might not be.

so if i do infact fit a std g60 flywheel (along with clutch) i wouldnt find any adverse effects by NOT getting it lightened and balanced? It would just be "convenient" as its off the car ready to be fitted?
