Hi guys, i travelled down to Cumbria at the start of the week and picked up a 54 plate Ibiza Cupra R Diesel i had seen on Ebay the previous day.
Has 99k miles, Full service history, recent timing belt and brakes, 2 owners (guy i got it from had it from 20k), decent bit tax and MOT. Its mechanically sound and needing nothing.
Car was good condition inside and came up great with a valet. Ordered new tailored mats with red trim to match red stitching on interior to finish it off.
Wheels were scuffed and missing 3 centre caps and bodywork was below average with the common rust on front wings and also had light scratches randomly dotted around it aswell as a fair amount of stone-chips.
First thing i did was get wings off a newer model with low mileage and in mint condition. I put it on the ramp and took the wheels off and took them to get refurbished and powder-coated and stripped the old wings off and fitted the mint new ones. Takes a while doing that and lining them up perfectly!
Now got wheels back looking awesome and re-fitted. Still waiting on centre caps arriving.
Today i bit the bullet and dropped it off at a local legend in the bodywork scene to tell me whats best to do to get it mint. Unfortunately for me he decided it needed a full re-spray other than roof and boot for it to be mint. I just left it with him and hes planning on having it done for next Saturday (2 March). As a bonus, hes going to plastic prime and colour code the side bump strips whilst theyre off.
Think im going to order a set of H&R springs to get it sitting at a nice height for when its all gleaming!
Bored yet? Ok heres a few pictures until i get it back!
Wheels back from powder coaters
In garage after wings fitted and wheels on, funny colours due to garage lights!
Comments and advice welcome!!
