Ibiza cupra R damaged engine - diesel run through it

hi everyone

i just bought an ibiza cupra R but it comes with a spare engine due to the old owner putting diesel through it and it got replaced with a new one. could anyone tell me which parts are salvagable? im guessing the top end will be fine and the turbo? bottom end will be knackered i guess? and are the parts worth anything really?

my mum doesnt like the fact that i have an engine sitting in the outhouse in the back garden! so is it worth just chucking it or selling it?

cant you get it flushed for not massive amounts and then it will be fully working?

i was going to say i know quite a few people that have done this and basically i doesnt run long enough to get damage anything!

there are proper companies who specialise in this think its around 200quid, give it a go or atleast ask them there advise

Strip it and rebuild it with nice goodies.

depends how long it was driven for, and more importantly at what revs!!! diesel doesnt burn like petrol!
to clear the vehicle of the diesel correctly a new fuel pump, fuel filter and drop and flush the tank and all fuel hoses, injectors will need servicing/cleaning by a proffesional engineering/injector specialist then you have the engine itself!! if once youve sorted the fuel side out and the vehicle still wont fire and run, you might want to pull the head off to inspect damage to the head and pistons/block.
this is what we advise when this happens!!!

Diesel in petrol isnt as bad as the reverse, fluch it out and see how it runs. The CAT may be knackered, but diesel will only act as a lubricant unless it fills the cylinders up and hydraulic locks the car, but as most say normally the car will not run long enough for this to happen.

cheers for all the replies. really i'm just looking to get rid of it. how much would a 'dielsel damaged' 20vt cupra r engine be worth? just the block and turbo? as someone said they my buy it but i would want to get the right price for it, not be short changed as i dont have a clue what its worth????

its worth whatever you want it to be worth and what someone else is willing to pay if you catch my drift! your best off looking for previous sale threads, ebay, and other vag sites for an idea of the price it may be worth, other than that you could ask for offers (though im sure you have to put a priice on it on this site!
