Surely with only 500 miles on the clock it's nowhere near run in yet and so the engine's still rather tight. I could be inclined to say give it a few more miles before passing judgement.

I think the noise you're hearing is the fuel pump priming the lines so it's nothing to worry about. I could be wrong though...

yeh i am thinking the same, will keep on eye on things and see if things improve.
cheers for the responses

I get around the same from my pd160 too, but I think it's cos I do mostly town driving. I get around the same consumption that I got from my 1.4 206 so I can't really complain too much.

Cupra Is A Bit Of A Heavy Drinker!

I get 35-40 mpg which is bad for a diesel but for a car that goes 0-60 in 6.5 sec and top speed of 138 it bloodly good, especallisaly the way i drive! can't image a golf gti or vauxhall VXR 25-30 mpg less if driven hard! spent 250 on fuel last month would have been 400 if was a petrol.

Thought the ibiza cupra was around 7.6 to 60??..

Am thinking about getting one but with these stories of high fuel consumption I'm having second thoughts!

Majority of people on here are talking about congested roads, and using there right foot alot. Plus mine and red cupra tdi's are remapped plus nany others.

If I had a petrol ibiza remapped I think i'd see nearer 20mpg max on the drive I do to and from work instead of 38 ish I get now, in what is essentially a quicker car!

Drive on the motorway and you'll see 48-50MPG

7.6 is a SEAT quoted figure, with half a tank and loaded. 6.8 has been recorded in mags, and once remapped ive seen a few 6.0's!
