Ibiza Reference 1.2 Moding

This is my first post, so pleas bear with me if this question has been posted before.

I currently have a 1.2 Reference Ibiza, I have had this car for 18 months now and I have had now problems with it and love the great MPG.
But I was wondering if any body could recommend and modifications that can be made to get more power from the engine and more responsive drive. I understand that the 1.2 is not the most powerful engine to make upgrades but any advice would be welcomed. The cost would not be so much a factor as I am looking to config a custom car, not just go out and by a faster car.

I have though about replacing the engine to a 1.8 i.e form a cupra or FR but does nay body have any experience with this and the average cost of the project.

I know that it is a kind of open question but any advice would be most welcomed.

Regards

Air filter, black box. thats all you can really do to improve the 1.2. although a proper service really helps too

i personally wouldn't change the engine, it would be pretty pricey and you'll have to change a lot more else you'll put too much strain on the other components. youre better off getting an FR/Cupra if you want to do that, it would be a lot easier. you'd probably get a decent one for around 5kish

welcome onboard btw :)

Changing the engine... you would need to change... the engine, engine mounts, gearbox (driveshafts), fuel lines, feul pump, ECU, and possibly the steering rack - and a wee phone call to your insurance company. ;)

As for what you've got there are couple of options, you could put in a induction kit and say goodbye to you fuel economy or install a cotton panel filter instead of the paper one, I have a cotton panel filter - it definately runs a little smoother.

Just buy a faster car.

Messing about with the 1.2 is probably not worth the hassle.

Simples :)
