I'm looking to fit HID style bulbs to my car and have been puzzled by some threads so thought I'd try and get some direct responses.

I am positve that, cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-501-T10-W5W-LED-Crisp-WHITE-XENON-sidelight-bulbs-UK_W0QQitemZ310162230228QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item48371c0bd4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 will fit for the sidelights.

But for the headlights, am I going for H7 or H4 and do I just look for 'HID Effect' or what is it I'm really after.

Thanks in advance :)

Such as those

501 sidelights will fit, those look ok but these are brighter: clicky
It seems that all led sidelights look a little blue, even ones that claim to be pure white - spent a lot of money trying to find pure white and these are the whitest I`ve found!

The type of headlights you need depends on whether you have single reflectors or double: (does one bulb do both dip + main beam or are they seperate?). If one bulb does both you need H4, if not you need H7 and main beam is H3.

If it is purely HID "effect" you are after, these are good, had them in mine for a while and the gf`s car. clicky
They won`t be much brighter... just a better colour: 5000k (blue tinted when off but pure white with a flash of blue when on).

You can look from the front: Switch your headlights on and have a look at them, then put your main beam on and see if another pair of bulbs have lit up - or the same bulb has got brighter.

No problem! Yeah when you switch your main beam on, you will see another pair of bulbs light up if you have double reflector headlighs.

Ah so this won't be in the same space of the headlight I assume, which appears to be behind some sort of circle ring thing with dots on it? :S

The dotted cover is a diffuser, in total you should have a sidelight, an indicator, and one bulb (behind a diffuser) for H4, or two bulbs (one behind a diffuser and one not) for H7 + H3.

Hmm, not checked yet. But just from glancing in without the headlights on I am sure there is only the one bulb that you talk about.

If it is two bulbs do I get a H3 HID effect bulb to?

Yes, it would make sense to get them matching, here is the ebay shop: click
I`m sure you could find a set of H7/H3`s on there... or just a pair of H4`s if needed.

Something like that okay? Doesn't matter about car. Is that wire on the other set of bulbs you see there because of the full beam assumably being wired elsewhere? Or are those wrong bulbs?

Also I read "and a pair of ICE White sidelight bulbs" they come with that. So I don't need to buy 501s?

Thanks alot Neo, been such a help :D

That set is perfect for the double headlights, does`nt matter about car make.
The wire is how H3`s come... they only have a single pin plug on them and are earthed through the body of the bulb, if that makes sense.

Yes they throw in a set of sidelghts too, and they are decent. So give them a try before buying led`s.

Just double check that you need the H7/H3 setup or H4 before you buy mate, to be really sure you could remove a bulb and it will have it stamped on it.

Happy to be of help but I have to go (on early shift tomorrow).

Cheers.
