I have searched before you ask ;)

I have a 1.9tdi 130 pd and...

On start up my car idles too fast (1000-1100rpm) and the battery sits at 12v, normally if it does this I depress the clutch and the revs settle and volts go to 14, nut nothing changes until you pull away and speed up?

I'm confused as had battery checked, all ok, sitting at 90-95%.

ISV?

Help shed some light on this, only done it for 3 days max...

maf ;) idle control valve go back to skoda and say its done it ever since they serviced it job done

I did, they can't find anything wrong with it...

I thought idle valve, can VAG-COM test this??

yes it should be able to! but if no engine management light is on then im thinking it would diagnose it

Good man, they were on a coffee break and the lady that normally helps me was off ill so didn't get 100% service, guess I could go back and moan...

Oh, guess who's buying/trying to buy some recaro's! :D

it's to do with the alternator voltage regulator,

it develops a lazy habit and only starts charging the battery once it runs a bit faster than idol speed

the idol is higher than it should be as the alternator is not putting any load on the engine until it runs fast enough to start charging and then the load is apparent

I don't think it's the alternator its self but the voltage regulator attached to the back of it

hope that helps ya

if you start the car and do nothing with the gas pedal your volt meter will say 12v and the lights etc will be dim, blip the gas and the lights go brighter and volts go to 14 ish, am I right?

I was going to say something to do with the alternator..........but now I shan't bother ;o)

I tried prodding the accelerator, which normally works, but not this time...

Thanks for the reply, crack it this time! :)
