Alarm keeps going off - and Door Control Modiule Drivers side missing

Hi all,

I have a 2005 Seat Altea, 2.0 tdi sport. Use to be driven daily up to this time last year, and then even less once uk lockdown hit... Mainly sits in the drive now so condensation / cold may be playing a factor...

Over the last day + night the alarm in the car randomly goes off, nothing untoward, just unlock and re lock and alarm stops for a while.

Its getting worse occurring more frequently.

I took the car for a drive earlier in the day and noticed that none of the functions of the driver door (ie the elec windows + enable/disable passenger windows) + the lock and unlock button in the central console worked or lit up... A little while later they worked again, then stopped...

three things:

1) is there a way to disable the alarm? From what I have found there is a yellow turn lock on the passengers door - I did that, but alarm still went off a little while later. I took the main battery off and the alarm sounded as well.

2) I did a scan using vcds. Logs attached:

The key error is the door control module no signal/communication...


I'm guessing these two are linked, and that either I have a wiring or control unit problem?

Is there a way from VCDS to get the part number or can I look it up else where to order a replacement? (I'd rather open the door card once and check wiring and replace unit at the same time then open the door card to check wiring and then close it backup to order a unit if possible?)

3) Anyone got a guide for replacing the unit? Its the drivers door...

Hi all, Just to follow up,

1) I figured out from reading numerous threads that the process was to lock the car using the internal switch from the passengers side, then use the yellow manual lock to lock the passengers door - this worked fine but now the internal switch is no longer functioning - The car has sat for a number of weeks with a flat battery?

2) Any ideas where I can find the part number for the door control unit without taking the door card off?

I wouldn't want to say for sure but from a Google search it looks like 1K0959792M is the door control unit.

Next time your alarm goes off could you try to identify where the noise is coming from, front bumper, bulkhead, rear bumper....?

Hi AlteaXL thanks for the info - Since the battery went flat, i've lost use of all of the drivers door controls, AND the internal lock/unlock. Remote lock/unlock still works for the passenger doors! Now im not sure if its the drivers door control unit or something else! as the car seems to think that the drivers door is closed which means the alarm has stopped going off now! I'll take a look at the part number above!

So I finally had the door card off and checked the part number - 1K0 959 793 H, so time to start shopping...

Meanwhile my battery keeps draining - to the extent where the windows wont go up as the motor is drawing more then the battery can supply!

I'm not sure if this is being caused by the drivers door constantly showing as open/closed etc and prepping engine to start and repeating, causing the battery to drain?

Just as a follow up to anyone else who has a similar issue, I swapped out the control unit with a second hand one from a scrap yard (Note I kept my original window motor and just swapped out the control unit!), put everything back together and recoded the unit to match what I think I have and so far all is good. Battery isn't draining like it was before, and so far 5 days later the alarm has not gone off once. Locking is working again, as are mirrors etc.

Only issue I have is that the mirror control - where pushing the electric mirror adjustment forward tilted the mirror up, it now tilts right, back on the adjustment tilts left and so on... near side is working as it should, just the drivers side isnt!
