If you had the chance to bring back one discontinued model, which would you choose?

The Ateca? Tarraco? Alhambra? Something older that we've forgotten about?

And here's the twist — you can bring it back, but it has to be completely updated for today with modern technology, safety and powertrains.

Which model gets your vote, and what would you change about it?

We're expecting a few Ateca and Tarraco answers… but surprise us!

I won't name a model because my answer is already expected :)

But I'd say this: Drop the nonsense like illuminated logos or exaggerated ambient lighting that turns cars into night clubs, stop replicating what everybody else is doing, focus on getting the sensible interior design back again, but not by half hearted attempts like scattering two or three buttons here and there and then saying here you got your buttons back!

I’ve never owned a Seat or a Cupra but I’ve always regretted not getting a mk1 Leon Cupra R back in the early 2000’s; I went for a mk4 VW Golf instead 🤔.

Maybe my choice is nostalgia driven, but it would be the mk1 Leon Cupra R which IMHO was stylish and affordable with decent performance 😎. Cars were much simpler back in the early 2000’s; no software glitches or touchscreens, and IMHO driving was more enjoyable because there were fewer cars on the roads. I don’t remember the UK’s roads being in such a poor state of repair either.

MK2 FR

Beats a Mk3 FR in terms or handling and stopping. PD engines are when looked after good for decent mileage unlike the chocolate ringed CR's.

The MK3 was a real backwards step, feels like a shopping car compared to the Mk2 FR

As before the original LCR! It had so much street presence.

And to think when they were running the last of them out, you could buy one for £16k

Apart from my current car, which I've had 6 years, the LCR was the longest I've kept a car at just under 3 years and loved every minute of it (y)

Fully agree with @serdar_18fr stop putting in light shows and other pointless toys,

I want MK1 leon Cupra or MK3 leon Cupra but I want this to be a drivers motor not a cruiser, lowered compared to original setup

Stop putting plastic in the engine bay (and VAG are not the only ones doing it)

Stop with all the complexity to changing stuff in the car.

Me I would buy a Brand New MK1 leon Cupra (as it was originally came out of the factory) with slightly lower suspension and upgraded engine (as there are many issues they have learnt about over the used they could improve.

Sadly that is never going to happen.

Whatever comes back, can we make sure it doesn't have SFD on it? Let people tinker with the things they own (at their own risk of course)...

I was reading the Thread title and immediately though MK1 LCR, seems that I am not alone. (y)

I don't think I would change much, maybe new lights front and back but can't think of anything else.

We were in traffic last weekend behind a couple of the latest shape Audi Q3s. Both Daytona Grey and one had the rear badge illuminated and the other's was just black without illumination and that looked so much better. Also not keen on the illuminated front light bar and badge VW have put on the Golf just looks tacky to me.

Note that almost all manufacturers have been playing with lighting lately, both exterior and interior-wise. And most of the stuff they come up with are useless gimmicks, tacky things that have no subtlety. I believe lighting is one area they can play with cheaply and without much R&D, and it makes them look like offering something new, so they all jumped on it, following each other.
