How much did it cost for the brembos to be painted? Have you got a phone number for the painter? cheers

It was a full refurb, new seals, nipples etc. Also replaced a piston too. Well actually it was missing from the caliper, didn't even notice :whistle: Cost £300 for all 4 corners.

He gets them shot blasted and powdercoated. Not just normal paint. Its really tough, my leaky caliper was soaked in brake fluid but the powder coat was fine.

The powder coater can finish the caliper in any colour from this chart:

where did you send them to get refurbed, i had mine done by a place in wolves and theyv been leaking from the nipple too and its a pain in the arse

I asked the guys in Wolves you used, they were a similar price to the guy i went with, but said they would only finish in silver or gold, so i gave them a miss.

It could be the nipple is too narrow, did they replace them or use your existing ones?

My thread was heli-coiled, but still leaked until i swapped the nipple for my old original one.

Some exciting news (for me!)

Just did a decent deal on some second hand KW V3's with solid top mounts :funk::funk::funk:

They are less than a year old and in excellent condition.

I know I am supposed to be concentrating on the engine and turbo at the moment, but couldn't resist :D

Will post some pictures of them when they arrive

Fluidampr pulley - Essential if running a SMF like I will be doing:

As the Fluidampr works by absorbing/dampening the vibrations caused by crankshaft twisting under torque spikes, will this also protect the factory rods (and timing gear) from fatigue in a torquey engine?

I'm going to keep my factory DMF, yet fit also a Fluidampr as well.

I'm going to keep my factory DMF, yet fit also a Fluidampr as well.

Not sure if it will protect the rods much, hard to quantify. I would be changing them anyway, seems a weak point in the 1.8t's running big power

Nice find on the V3's, you even made me order a fluidampr pulley a few weeks back too

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of them in the car yet, they came up perfect though. Such a massive improvement over the standard seats.

Also installed some rubbish Alpine HU I had lying around, was needed as I locked my standard HU by putting in the wrong code! Still at least I can connect an iPod to this one :D

My car is not going to run above 240bhp/280lb/ft, yet it has to run them reliably for long time - that is, safely for rods and camshafts/timing gear.

Current setup provides 230bhp/264lb/ft.

My car is not going to run above 240bhp/280lb/ft, yet it has to run them reliably for long time - that is, safely for rods and camshafts/timing gear.

Current setup provides 230bhp/264lb/ft.

I think you will be fine running that power on standard rods. Fluidampr certainly will add to that reliability you would hope :think:

I am now getting very close. Had a few parcels arrive today:

Looks good enough to eat (in my opinion :happy:)

So next stage is to send the donor AGU block, largeport head and Turbo off to Bill @ Badger 5 on Thursday for him to do his magic. Then I will fit it all in my car, run it in for about a month, then back to Bill for a remap.

In the meantime I need to:

Fit new FMIC, get pipes welded up
Install WMI
Relocate battery to boot

And a load of other jobs too. Got a few days off at the end of this week. Will be busy! BUT i can't wait!!

Huge update time!

Been very very busy over the last few weeks buying a few more parts for my car, and actually doing a load of work on my car too :D

Where do I start? Well I loaded my car up with my AGU bottom end and large port head and my new hybrid turbo and made my way down to Bills:

On the bottom end he fitted my IE rods with new OEM rod bearings, Calico main bearings, AMK oil squirters (AGU bottom end has smaller jets) and OEM piston rings. He swapped over the AGU pistons with the BAM ones I supplied, as they were in better condition.

On the head he stripped it down, fitted new stem seals, valve guides, and my Supertech intake and exhaust valves.

Bit of a fail on the exhaust valves, should have bought the Inconel valves, but only got standard 1 piece stainless ones. And Bill mentioned there is no point in changing the intake valves for the standard Supertech ones I bought. You live and learn!

Then he finally he also bored out the hotside on my turbo.

A full Superpro bush set for a LCR. Very happy with this, will compliment my V3's nicely I hope.

Have also done some work on the car. Started off with relocating the battery to the boot:

The holes in the floor are from the LPG tank I had in my car, need to get them welded up!

I used the standard positive and negative wiring in the boot. Then ran a 40mm2 cable all the way to the front:

This then goes into a 3 way junction box. The second cable goes to the starter, again this is the standard cable, just cut it and fitted a tube terminal on the end of it. The third cable goes to the relay box.

I fitted the relay box to the inner wing, it I chopped up the original relay box mounting and fitted that to the inner wing with some self tappers. The relay box slots into it, just as it would on the top of the battery.

The standard neagtive to the gearbox still needs to be there, I just cut the terminal end off and heatshrinked the end of it up.

This was my third attempt to do the relocation. I messed up the first two times with cr@ppy amp wire and a sub wiring style junction box.

The car would struggle to start with the thin amp wire. My advice is buy the correct parts, don't try and skimp, it costs more in the long run!

I also got round to trial fitting my large toyosport cooler.

It has 76mm outlets, and was so big it would not fit behind the crash bar without a few modifications....

Had to cut the front panel cross members, and a small bit of the crash bar, its a tight squeeze:

Really like my top mounting brackets, they are not perfect but I think they look good!

I went with 76mm pipework all the way from the FMIC to the SEM with 76mm TB:

The top pipe wiill have a couple of bosses welded, one for the MAP sensor and the other for my WMI...

The pipework for the other side is also 76mm, up until the charge pipe hose:

Just need a reducer on that side.

Getting all the pipes beaded before fitting them when my new engine goes in.

The bumper will also need to be chopped, but should still look OEM once finished.
