hey guys,

Ive got a 1.4 DAB ibiza its pretty quick for my first car as im 17, but im looking for ways to increase bhp that wouldn't cost that much, at the moment its got 100bhp but i want to get it to at least 120 or so.

So far what ive got in mind is;

Induction Kit
New exhaust back box

But I know im going to need a bit more, anything else I can do?

Thanks.

iv got the same car and iv already asked about improving the bhp but there isn't alot you can do really. iv put a bmc cda induction kit on it, you can feel a slight difference in acceleration but nothing big. a will be getting a new exhaust system so hopefully that will add a liltte more but am not expecting much gain from that either.

learn to drive it properly,It's your first car,I don't want to sound like your dad,but you are one of the biggest risks on the road right now for the first few years of driving.
get some no claims under your belt, stay safe, and buy something with a bit of power later on.

old fart mode off!

I asked this roughly two years ago. 140hp can be had from the 1.4 but it requires quite a bit of work and parts and is a hassle. So basically what I did was not spend any money on performance mods for the first two years, and then bought a fast car out of the box.

Not what you want to hear I know, but thats life. You will get your turn ;)

It's true what they are saying, You'll have to stay low powered for a couple of years. Unless you've got a huge amount of money in the bank for a complete engine rebuild with cams, head sorting and the rest of the block!

No point spending money on performance on the car for now, take what others say and just get a quicker car for the future. Count yourself lucky though, some people get along fine with 1.2's :D

wish my first car had 100 hp and that was a 1.4 best thing to do is to save the cash get your ncb get a lil older then splash out on sportshatch

Better off spending your money on handling mods.

Cupra bushes and front ARB, Whiteline rear ARB, coilovers or spring and dampers kit and a front strut brace. All of these will dramaticly improve the handling allowing you to go faster ;)

Ive got the same car and have added a bmc cda and cat back exhaust system. I have also upgraded the wheels to oz seat sport 17" with low profile toyo tyres. I have bought fabia vrs brakes and a full cupra suspension set up but am waiting for these to be fitted. With these mods the car goes very well and soon will handle even better!

As much as its fair to say just save until you can afford something better, there is alot of fun to be had with this model and not many people know but the engine is a descendant of the lupo gti- one of the most revered hot hatches of recent years.

My aim is to have a car that can handle like a cupra, brake like a vrs and have the power of a lupo gti, yet still only insurance group 5 ;)

1.2s FTW, av spent a fortune on making mine look the mutts nutts but at the end of the day i would rather have a minted looking 1.2 than a slighlty faster basic 1.2, there not made to go fast so no point in trying, just live with it and enjoy what u got, like everyone says, our time will come.

I take it you arent gonna be declaring your mods going by the "still insurenace grp 5" coments

Totally agree. I have a mk3 1.4 they only have 60hp, but it looks mint, and is the best looking one in my area. Though thats not saying much lol.

Doesn't matter what it does, just how it looks :D
