yeah i know what you mean, i need a job aswell, been applying everywhere! i'm off from uni for like 4months, so need to get my funds up!

yeah my mate has a placement at BMW and is getting a mini cooper s soon, they're nice, but 2 my mates have proper (old) mini's, both have 1.0 in them atm, but both are puttin 1273cc's in soon, one is supercharging, other is turbo'ing, you know how quick they will be, they weigh like 650kg, with like 120-130bhp, MENTAL!

the old mini's are mint!!! but for me it would probably be a golf mk2 all the way, they look so sexual :p....are they similar on insurance to the ibiza mk2 gti's?

Plus I always feel out of place on this site until I'll get a Cupra probably :p haha. Just my opinion, great fun all the same! REALLY handy forum!

trust me i love old mini's, but the thing is i am quite tall (6foot) and am quite big (henched and fat atm, broken ankle, long story lol) so when i sit in it, i look SO outta place lol
i think they are the same-ish, probably more being a VW!

haha yeah!... Naah it's not that bad of a price acutally. Might wait though. Just a year from now though! :) Maybe before I renew my insurance. My brother will start driving in August, so he'll pass by befre Xmas hopefully!! Want a MINT GTi with about 50 - 70k on the clock if I ought to be fussy! :p. Either Tornado Red, Diamond Black, or Topaz Blue which is soooo nice! I wouldn't mind Copper or Bengle Yellow though :) ... in other words GIMMIE A GTi!

Arun as if I'm gonna do that to my GTi-to-be! :p you silly boy! Need to be taught a lesson - you and your breaking eeprom skills haha! And as for Skodas - they're actually very good cars by now... cheaper versions of VW's. Just like SEATs. :)

lol true, but it would look sexy if it was 2 tone black/dark silver, gun metal wheels, blacked windows, smoked lights etc etc, and a beast of an engine ;)

Crezz has a nice one... that's what I would like mine to look like. Just some fine little tweaks to make it even nicer, but nothing else really. Doesn't need to be showing off or proving anything with THAT type of engine in it now does it ;)

i love my 16v, as its old its got few problems, but thats with any car!QUOTE]

Yep I know what you mean, Ive just had to buy a new alternator for my 1.4. Got a bargain though at £55. Then I came out on Thursday to find a new puddle of power-steering fluid under the car. So Ive had to get a new power-steering pump.

The Skoda Fabia VRS is a good car. My mate has one and honestly the torque it has is unbelieveable. It pulls great through 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

hey I was only messing about with the whole - feeling left out not owning a Cupra ;) ...

VRS' are very nice cars indeed! Octavia's are awesome too! Like them since the cops use them around here :p

I'd say that the 8v is probably less troublesome as a daily car than 16v, but it all depends on how well you maintain the car and how you drive it, in my opinion.

I wouldn't say 'buy a 8v' or 'buy a 16v' particularly. What I would say is that in a couple of years time, even the youngest ones will 11+ years old, and therefore I'd buy the best condition one you can afford, be that 8 or 16v.

yeah definatley Anthony - what you're saying makes sense :)... whatever I consider buying - it's crucial that I go for a well-mantained Ibiza. I was thinking of buying one off here maybe? Better than Auto trader perhaps?

I bought mine from here :) Not necessarily better or worse, depends entirely on who's selling it, but I would consider buying a car from a forum member again.

Just remember that condition is everything when buying cars of that age.

Low miles with history is crucial on a 16v, i had one with 120k and i replaced damn near everything on it with receipts totalling £4k in two years. Having said that when that car was fully working and on song it was the best damn thing i've ever driven.

When i was at uni I had my first 2.0 8v and it was everything i needed, good fun, very reliable, cheap to insure and maintain along with being good on fuel and my second one is just the same even though it has 30k more on the clocks.

I think which one you will want depends very much on where you drive and how you drive. If your good at keeping the revs up, have lots of straight roads to let the 16v sing, can get used to the bloody horrible gearbox and dont care about fuel usage the 16v is the one to have.

If you don't like to scream a car, have twisty roads, like an easy relaxed drive and dont like daft fuel usage then the 8v it is. Its by far the best all rounder. Every day theres no difference in them performance wise. Only if your dragging will you see the difference................. as these two old SCN members demonstrate ;)
