Hi Guys, I hope this friday finds you well!!

My car has a slight problem with its indicators, i think it wants to be a BMW!!

Basically when i turn left or right the indicators may work fine but then may put in a really quick flash then go back to normal. Or like yesterday it decides to indicate for a couple of flashes then decide it doesn't want to at all, resetting the stalk and indicating again produces the same result.

I have found the hazard switch works ok but this has been known to stop as well so not sure its totally to do with just the stalk!?

So i assume i may have an earth issue or a sticky relay or something like that??

If anyone has any thoughts please post up.

Thanks in advance

if it were mine, i'd take out the bulbs and inspect them, giving the holders a quick blow if theres any dirt. or better yet replace all the bulbs to see if that solves the problem. at least this way you dont end up spending big money when it could of been somthing very simple.

(a mate with same bulbs would be useful)

worth a try i suppose, i did consider this but thought would i have the issue both turning left and right? as in normally when a bulb is going/gone its just turn in that direction?

that is true, although i remember before mine went it would do the fast indicating(or even a very long on flash) in any direction. the bulb hadn't even blown yet and it was playing up. i splashed out on the osram tinted bulbs and changed them all over.

pop them out and stick them back in, its free and you never know ;)

as you say cant hurt, especially as its free :)

I'll take them all out at the weekend and see what happens, maybe one might brake as i take it out if its on its way.

Car is in garage monday anyway for somethng else so i'll ask them to check the relay/stalk for any issues.

Just thought i would update this in case any one else has similar issues, may be quite a rarity though

The garage managed to find the issue with the troublesome indicators they traced the fault to a faulty hazard switch. This has been replaced and the indicators now work correctly.

The part is 1MO941509BNNF.....HAZARD SWITCH.....20.78 + VAT

im going to do it tomorrow, there are quite a few other posts on this same topic, and some fitting guides. From what i can gather its a case of take out stereo, undo a few torx screws, remove the facia round the switch, then pop it out and replace. :)

done it today, everything is now good with the indicators. Was a pretty easy job to do, just took out the stereo, undid the two torx srews, carefully pulled the facia forward ( dont pull it too far as its still attached lower down under the climate control) reached into the stereo slot with my finger and popped the relay and switch out from the back. :)
