I am now in negotiations with him - he seems an alright chap.

I've asked all the usuals - service, belts, pumps, extra pics, etc :)

Lets see what he replies back with.

Good be onto a good, reliable car because of the type of use it has been used for.

More news:

Hey oh, he sells part for a living. Belt etc still needs to be done. He said he would work out a deal for me with that in mind (selling parts to me discounted etc me thinkies)

Hey ooooo :D

He's willing to make a deal. Good good. He seems like a knowledgable chap.

Anything I should be weary of guys, apart from what has already been said?

:) Get an HPI check done on it,before you seal the deal.Best £20 you'll ever spend.
Checks for outstanding finance, stolen, insurance write off etc.1 in every 3 used cars, has something to hide.Don't let yours be one of them.

I always do a text check for cars that I buy, gives all the details as above but only costs £3-4. iirc you text the reg to 83600 and get two texts back giving all the details

I think we have a near deal

£2,600 + CAMLBELT Kit and Water Pump done before purchase.

Views?? :)

Good deal as long as you have a look and are 100% sure that there is a shiny water pump with a metal impeller, belt and tensioner fitted along with the old ones in a box as evidence.

Trust noboby

I'll continue on a deal when I see the car, you know, little stone chip here, slight scratch on the alloy here. Usual stuff you sort of 'have' to expect with long distance car.

Also if the tyres are a bit too low, i'll push for a deail there.

Seems like a good purchase for a decent car.

I'm attempting to deal on the metal impellar now. Brief explained that I know the important etc.

Why hasn't this paert be changed over the VAG range?

:) £2500,with the belt etc. Depend how much you want the car really.Maybe he'll meet you half way.
Make sure your air con/climate control blows nice and cold.Turn it down to 'LO',it should be ice cold.Easier to check it in warm weather mind.If it's not,it'll probably need regassing.£70.

:) Damn right.Lots of rogues out there.
I read somewhere on here, that the latest plastic impeller has been strenghtened, and doesn't have the same flaw as the older type.Hence why VAG keep fitting them.Don't know how correct that is though.Isn't it just the petrol engined pumps that have the reputation for failing?.
I got my pump replaced by Seat on my TDI.I guess it's got the plastic one,i never bothered to ask.It done 63k on the original without any probs,so here's to another 60k!.Hopefully.

You can get that done for like £40! WOOT you on about!!

£25 gets a 'topup'. I've heard that makes a good difference aswell!

:) Sorry.I was just quoting the price i paid for checking the system for leaks, deodorising and complete regas. From a Seat garage,so i guess it'll be cheaper elsewhere.

great idea about taking a mate, as its very easy to view a car through rose tinted specs, when its the one you want :)

never be afraid of a high miler but id want proof the belts been done! mines a petrol mk3 but when i had mine changed there was only 3 impellor blades left on my water pump!

I'm always going to be afraid of high miles if they dont follow my rules for high milers. :)
