Aye I wasn't sure. I wasn't fit to get my soldering iron to the pins without burning everything round it lol, so took off the needles and removed the 'white bit' from the 'green bit' to give me more room to solder if you get me. Mine all work grand now though, it was daunting, but I definitely found it worthwhile.

If you're not confident with the soldering iron (as was I!) you can ask your local computer repair shop. Its bread and butter to them.

I stripped it all down and payed £30 for soldering which looks machine soldered. This was a year and a bit ago.

Have a look round your local breakers yards (or a vag specialist breaker if there's any near you). I found that the phone book is a lot quicker than trawling through the million-and-one hits on google if you're looking a breaker.

On the other hand, you may be able to fix your current cluster if you solder it. Just a thought but could the solder have been disturbed when you took your cluster out? Hence why it didn't work when you put it back in. Also did you take the needles off? Because I believe that they can be pushed back into place too hard making the needle too tight to the face of the cluster. (i.e. if you pulled the needle off and put it back on again making sure it wasn't on too tight, would it work then?)

Yes I'll keep a look out for a fr cluster at a scrap yard. I'm sort of getting use to having no speedo as im using my iPhones GPS speedo which works fine it even does a heads up display which is cool.
Always want my car 100% but. After nearly 11 years ownership nigly little faults can creep in so I need to 'man up' and keep faithful as my car still delivers the goods
against new cars as a BMW X5 on a 13 plate found out the other day lol!
I'm resisting the temptation to buy a fiesta st and so far I'm winning.

Everyone is raving about the Fiesta st. With the monotune re map and air filter it's good for 212bhp and still covered by the warranty. Handling is top class with no modifications needed and I can buy a brand spanking new one for £15800. I think it could have the edge on the Ibiza 1.4 cupra.
