Insurance companies not listing K1's for 2009 models?

Trying to insure my K1 and I have noticed that none of the insurance companies have the K1 listed as a 2009 model. Tell them that the car is a 2008 and they all have it. Anyone know why this is? They still list the non bodykit cupra but why not the k1?

Emailed SEAT UK about this and they were useless as ever and blew me off. Person who replied to me seemingly doesnt even know the difference between a k1 and a normal cupra going by her reply.

Really annoying, anyone have a insight or a explanation as to why this is? Adrian flux have said that the insurance database maybe hasnt been updated yet?

And Liverpool victoria state that if your model of car is not shown in the list, that you are to try a different manufacturer year and see if it is in that, which the k1 is.

Oh and mods please dont move this to the insurance section, its more of a k1 specific question.

Technically it's a cupra with an options list ticked... same as the 350z GT Pack.

Just insure as a cupra, with OEM bumper kit etc

Yeah im thinking that, but why did the insurance companies list it as a 2008 model but not now for 2009

Just makes things a bit sketchy tbh.

They also list the fr550 as a 2009 model aswell

I phone Adrian flux for a quote a week ago and they had it on the list as they gave me a quote for it!

Greenlight and Express Insurance have it listed but none of the Online companies i tried to a get a quote from had it listed.

I would not insure it as a non K1 as you maybe charged for the bodykit mod i.e. it is not factory standard and it may affect anypayout as it will be based on resale value.

I was on the phone to them about a week ago also and they said the k1 was not on there as a 2009 model? Will ring them again tomorrow and see what they say, I want to actually buy some insurance tomorrow so im sorted for tuesday.

Do they want you to send in proof of your ncb also?

Technically they did not say it was 2009 but they did quote for a brand new car that I told them was 09 plate....

NCB is a bit of a saw point, as i have 5 years company car driving Adrain Flux would not accept as no claims, so they quoted my £966!!

However Express Insurance accepted it as 5 years clean motoring so gave me the discount but would not accept as NCB, so i can not protect it but the premium is £425!!

I shouldn't matter what year the car is as a car can be lying around for years before it is registered.

I would just say it is a K1 on a 2009 plate, sometimes the model year doesn't change if there are no spec changes. My Celica for example was built and registered in 2004 but was still MY03 even an 06 plate one was probably MY03 as they never changed the standard spec.

If you get stuck doesn't SEAT still offer 7 days free insurance?

Insurance is a pain, if the worst comes to the worst ring round rather than use the internet, that's what I ended up doing for the TT as the online sites can't really cope with optional extras.

yeah most dealers offer a free week of insurance, mainly just so you can drive the car away and they can smile cos they have all your monies! Vauxhall do it, I'd imagine Seat and everyone else does it.. if you had to sort the insurance before you even ahd the car that'd be a bit of a joke really...

m0rk, the 350Z GT is normally listed (on places like confused/go compare) as a seperate model because it's sold as a different vehicle to a normal 350z + options.. there are som e'exclusive' opions you get for going GT instead of basic+

IMO it's best to get the car insured as it is (i.e. a 09 cupra k1) it seems a bit dodgey insuring it as an 08 if it's not, and i think it'd be expensive if you did it as a 09 cupra + mods.

just my two peneth ;)

Picked my K1 up on 1st March with the 7 days free insurance from Seat. Makes life much easier on both the buyer and the dealer especially to get the vehicle taxed.

Insured mine with e-sure as a 2008 manufactured and 2009 '09 registered vehicle. No issue behind that as phil3012 say's vehicles can sit around for ages and if the spec doesn't change then they can still be listed as manufactured in the previous year or years.

They found the K1 on their system in the end then

As I said before, you only need to talk to the wrong person at Flux and you end up getting no-where quick.

Yep you were right, the guy I talked to this time round knew his stuff. Cant wait to pick it up on monday or tuesday :funk:
