interior light. help please!!

hope someone can shed some light ( no pun intended! ) on my problem. right, when i unlock/open the doors all 3 interior lights usually come on, this morning for some reason the back 2 operate as normal but the front one won't go off when its in the 'door open' position i've had to turn it off manually, does anyone know whats wrong and how to fix this niggly but annoying problem???

I had that happen once but just messed with the switch, door open, ignition on etc.. and it fixed itself

Door switch mate... reasonably common, I had it this week but just sat poking it with my finger til it started working again. Don't know if it was a fluke or not but it worked. Anyone walking by probably thought I was on day release though!

right, dumbest question of 2009, where is the door switch? I had a quick look earlier but couldn't see one where they usually are on cars, do i have to look further than the end of my nose??

You can clean it, have a search

There was a post the other week about this with links to VWVortex, a bit of soldering was required to build up some points but you'll need to take it all out and apart. Might be better to maybe get a new mech from a scrappy and see if the barrel can be swapped over. Someone else will know for sure.

At least it's sorted. Mine never re-occurred, well up till now. Jinxed
